Bolin, with the help of Spirits, Moogles, and various other people had finally finished setting up the party. There were tables laden with different kinds of food of course and decorations everywhere. They'd made sure to clear a space for dancing and Perry the Platypus had volunteered to DJ with some equipment borrowed from the moogles for the night. Bolin wished there could be more people so they could have games and stuff like a proper street festival...but for what he had he felt it was pretty good.

Now they just needed people to show up for the fun.

"Yeah right. You'd probably get sick first."

Lea had always been skinny for as long as Roxas knew him, and all the ice cream they'd eaten hadn't changed that.

"Probably. And I've gotta stay in shape for my eat-off with Bolin later. You want in on that?" Roxas probably wouldn't. He didn't think the guy had ever had super spicy food. Though maybe he could get him into it anyway...nah, Bolin would definitely say something before they got to the eating part.

"No, that's alright. Bolin already told me, but spicy food's not my thing."

He'd watch though, since it would probably be really gross.

"If you say so." He definitely had to make it for everyone at the house sometime now. Even if no one but Sora would try it. He guessed Ammy might; you never knew with her. "Run into anyone interesting so far?"

"A few people, I guess. A few people came by the ice cream booth."

Mostly people he knew, except for the older woman. She had been kind of intimidating.

"What were you doing hanging out there?" Lea asked. Not that he could blame Roxas for hanging out with the ice cream.

"Bolin asked me to look after the ice cream, so I did."

And he takes his job very seriously. He didn't want to let Bolin down after all.

"That was nice of you." He guessed. Kind of weird that Bolin had asked Roxas with all the moogles around, but hey, he couldn't complain. "So: you've never had cotton candy, right?"

Roxas shrugged. He was just doing what a good friend should do, or at least what he figured a good friend should do.

"I don't think I have. Why?"

"You should definitely try it. It's really good." Super sweet; Xion hadn't been too fond of it, but maybe Roxas would like it.

"I think I saw some at the struggle tournament. It's really fluffy, right?"

It looked kind of weird to him, but he'd try it. After all, he was one for deserts.

"Yeah, it's down at the end." Lea was pretty sure the moogles had brought it, though he hadn't seen one standing guard over it or anything.

"I guess I can give it a shot."

After all, it would be a new candy, and Roxas wasn't one to say no to those.

Lea headed down to where they were selling cotton candy. They had a couple different colors, still. "The blue and the pink taste the same, but you can try both if you want." Well, the blue tasted kind of...blue, but Lea was pretty positive that was color and not flavoring.

"If they taste the same, what's the point of different colours?"

Trust Roxas to ask the logical questions. Still, it did look kind of enticing and so he asked the moogle for some of the pink stuff. It looked a bit more appealing than the blue. Blue should be reserved for ice cream.

Lea shrugged. "People like different colors, I guess. I think the blue tastes kind of blue, but they don't put anything in it to make it taste different."

"How can anything taste blue? What is that flavour even?"

Aside from sea salt, but that was a given.

[eternalfrolicbond]

"I dunno, it just tastes kind of bluish. It's how it tastes." Lea shrugged.

[seasaltkeys]

"That's kinda gross. I'm going to stick with the pink stuff."

And he'll place an order with the moogle for it. It looks so weird.

"Suit yourself." It wasn't gross! Just...different. Oh well, at least Roxas was going better than Ammy.

"It's really sweet," Roxas said, after he took a bite of the cotton candy. It wasn't unpleasant, but still kind of overwhelming. He ran his tongue over his teeth, as if feeling the sugar.

"Yeah. You can't eat much of it at once. Most people can't anyway." Lea remembered being a kid; he'd had no problem going through a bag of cotton candy - bad news for his parents - but he'd gotten to like different things as he got older.

"Why do they give you such a big helping then?" Roxas asked. It had been handed to him on a stick rather than a bag, and he wasn't sure if he'd be able to finish it.

Still, he offers some to Lea.

Lea took some and ate it, talking around it a bit. "Well, some people can eat a whole thing by themselves but mostly you share it with other people." Like Roxas had. Lea had thought a lot about just doing normal friend-stuff with Roxas, but moments like this reminded him just how little Roxas had gotten to do. It got depressing if he let himself think about it too much.

"So that everyone can get sick of the sugar?" As much as Roxas was putting down the cotton candy, he did go for another handful. It wasn't that bad and he kind of liked the way it melted in his mouth. And it was nice to share it with friends. Ice cream was still the number one food to share, but that went without saying.
