No More Monkeys Jumping On the Bed [Open]

Characters: An unwanted guest...and you
Content: BOSS BATTLE
Location: Fifth District Greenhouse
Time: Evening
Warnings: Violence. It’s a boss battle, guys. C’mon.

My, the Fifth District is nice this evening, isn’t it? Whether you’re just passing through or going Nightmare-hunting, you can’t deny that that greenhouse is a lovely feat of architecture. It might even distract you from the fact that you haven’t been attacked by Nightmares at all since you entered the district; an oddity, given that this area is usually very Nightmare-prone.

The peace and quiet doesn’t last long, however. There’s a rattle and an unholy screech undercut by the cacophony of shattering glass, and the greenhouse roof explodes outwards. You cover your face and turn away, waiting for the glass to settle before heading towards it. No matter whether you jump down from the broken roof or head in via the doorway, you’re greeted with the same sight: the upper half of a giant multicolored monkey. It screeches again; obviously it’s not happy to see you, and it’s about to make that known. Rearing back, it takes a swing at you with one massive paw.

Good luck.

[OOC: Welcome to your first boss fight! This is Hockomonkey and he doesn’t like you. Hockomonkey will be controlled by the mods, who will also determine (via dice roll - we’re kicking it D&D style) whether attacks land and how much damage they’ll do. We’ll keep the technical stuff on the back end - just write like you normally would. There is no tag order in this thread; however, we do ask that you keep up a relatively quick tagging pace, especially if your character teams up with any others for joint attacks or strategies.]

It was a good thing to see another Meow Wow was up and able to help. They were probably going to need all the help they could get to get everyone patched up.

It also didn't take rocket science to realize where that remark was directed. At least Sora had the decency to accept that he was partially responsible for that mess, though it wasn't so much not knowing what he was doing as not knowing the people he was working with and what they were doing at the same instant. It certainly would have gone better if they had coordinated their attacks against the Nightmare's body when it had returned.

"We did drop the ball there. I think we all have a lot to learn about working together." Not that Sora was stranger to team work, but the only other person present at this incident that he could work with (for reasons that didn't need to be made public) had made the same mistake he had (possibly for the same reasons). Sora might have commented further on the need for some team building exercises, but then he noticed Moxie's concern, "Looks like your Spirit was really worried."

Perhaps any lectures or lessons for anyone deserving them could wait until everyone was healed up.

Emizel probably could have said a few more things himself, although it would have done nothing but potentially irate or guilt trip some people even more. Not exactly something he'd mean to do on purpose; despite being used to the whole camaraderie scene before, demons are never exactly good with the sympathizing and 'being considerate of others' types of things. At least, not on the frontal level. Certainly not with people he barely knew.

But it did seem like if any of them were going to survive this strange world of dreams some collaborations was going to have to be done. Because if the Nightmares don't do it, if they continue to get even bigger, they might just end up taking out themselves.

"I-I'm... fine... alright," Moxie was still persistent to give Emizel all the attention (and affection) he possibly could. The demon tried patting back just to see if it might calm him down. Once that wasn't quite enough he had to give him a light shove before the Meow Wow was practically on top of him. Successfully that got Moxie to stop, but not without a bit of a limp.

Emizel sighed and watched his Spirit try to move around, even though it was obvious it was hurting a bit. "It'd be an embarrassment if that blast was all it took..." He merely put a hand over his other shoulder.

The worrying part was Sora knew they likely were going to be more giant Nightmares, especially if there were more worlds sleeping yet. There was a lot to work on. Possibly, that included an agreement about what to do when faced with a giant Nightmare.

"... That would be embarrassing." Come to think of it, was there any more embarrassing way to get taken out than possibly a magical backlash from something so stupid? It didn't seem likely.
