No More Monkeys Jumping On the Bed [Open]

Characters: An unwanted guest...and you
Content: BOSS BATTLE
Location: Fifth District Greenhouse
Time: Evening
Warnings: Violence. It’s a boss battle, guys. C’mon.

My, the Fifth District is nice this evening, isn’t it? Whether you’re just passing through or going Nightmare-hunting, you can’t deny that that greenhouse is a lovely feat of architecture. It might even distract you from the fact that you haven’t been attacked by Nightmares at all since you entered the district; an oddity, given that this area is usually very Nightmare-prone.

The peace and quiet doesn’t last long, however. There’s a rattle and an unholy screech undercut by the cacophony of shattering glass, and the greenhouse roof explodes outwards. You cover your face and turn away, waiting for the glass to settle before heading towards it. No matter whether you jump down from the broken roof or head in via the doorway, you’re greeted with the same sight: the upper half of a giant multicolored monkey. It screeches again; obviously it’s not happy to see you, and it’s about to make that known. Rearing back, it takes a swing at you with one massive paw.

Good luck.

[OOC: Welcome to your first boss fight! This is Hockomonkey and he doesn’t like you. Hockomonkey will be controlled by the mods, who will also determine (via dice roll - we’re kicking it D&D style) whether attacks land and how much damage they’ll do. We’ll keep the technical stuff on the back end - just write like you normally would. There is no tag order in this thread; however, we do ask that you keep up a relatively quick tagging pace, especially if your character teams up with any others for joint attacks or strategies.]

Ienzo noted that Bolin and his dream eaters had been rather close to the epicenter of the blast. He hurried in that direction, keeping an eye out for dream eaters. Just because the big one was defeated didn't mean they were in the clear, necessarily. He cast cura on all of them; the dream eaters seemed to be close to dead; not surprising since they'd been so close to the center of the blast.

Namine was doing poorly, but Wash seemed to be taking care of her - he could go and discuss her behavior later. He stayed to make sure that the dream eaters and Bolin would be well before he went anywhere else.

Xion was luckier than some of the others. While the blast had knocked her backwards, she'd only been winded, and soon picked herself up to evaluate the situation. Unfortunately, Barkley hadn't been so lucky. Some of the rocks had hit him, and he'd been badly hurt. By the time Xion reached him, the poor thing was whimpering in pain, limping to try to reach her. She made him stop so she could cast Curaga, then looked to the others. Both she and Axel had been injured, yes, but nothing that required immediate attention.

Deciding Tails was one of those most in need of assistance at the moment, she hurried over to him. Once she got close enough, she cast another Curaga to heal him. Once the spell's familiar green glow faded, she knelt next to him. "Tails?"

For all that Aeleus was generally built to take blows - and had managed to hold his position fairly well, even with the explosion - he was more than grateful for the Cura. There wasn't too much time to dwell on the fact, however. While he wasn't nearly as good at healing as Ienzo was, he still had a number of potions on hand, and that would do for a start. What he would do once they were gone was still something that was up in the air, but if nothing else, he could help clear the largest of the remnants of stone, and put to rights any ground that had been misplaced by the force of the explosion.

That was for later, however. Right now, there were more important things to tend to, as he turned towards where he'd last seen Even. He wouldn't have been entirely surprised if Even turned out to perfectly capable of handling things himself, but that was no reason he couldn't at least check.

If there was one thing Even had gained from the past years, it was the ability to uncork a potion one-handed and drink it almost before the explosion had completely died away.

His Pricklemane squeaked plaintively. It looked in worse case than Even himself, even before the potion. Even uncorked a second potion and knelt to allow his Pricklemane to drink. Apparently, it had finally discovered the limit of its energy; it lapped at the potion and nuzzled tiredly against Even's hand. He reluctantly dismissed his shield and patted it. "Yes, yes. You did quite well."

He looked to Aeleus and Ienzo first. They had been significantly nearer the center of the blast. Seeing them not materially injured, Even nodded to himself.
