No More Monkeys Jumping On the Bed [Open]

Characters: An unwanted guest...and you
Content: BOSS BATTLE
Location: Fifth District Greenhouse
Time: Evening
Warnings: Violence. It’s a boss battle, guys. C’mon.

My, the Fifth District is nice this evening, isn’t it? Whether you’re just passing through or going Nightmare-hunting, you can’t deny that that greenhouse is a lovely feat of architecture. It might even distract you from the fact that you haven’t been attacked by Nightmares at all since you entered the district; an oddity, given that this area is usually very Nightmare-prone.

The peace and quiet doesn’t last long, however. There’s a rattle and an unholy screech undercut by the cacophony of shattering glass, and the greenhouse roof explodes outwards. You cover your face and turn away, waiting for the glass to settle before heading towards it. No matter whether you jump down from the broken roof or head in via the doorway, you’re greeted with the same sight: the upper half of a giant multicolored monkey. It screeches again; obviously it’s not happy to see you, and it’s about to make that known. Rearing back, it takes a swing at you with one massive paw.

Good luck.

[OOC: Welcome to your first boss fight! This is Hockomonkey and he doesn’t like you. Hockomonkey will be controlled by the mods, who will also determine (via dice roll - we’re kicking it D&D style) whether attacks land and how much damage they’ll do. We’ll keep the technical stuff on the back end - just write like you normally would. There is no tag order in this thread; however, we do ask that you keep up a relatively quick tagging pace, especially if your character teams up with any others for joint attacks or strategies.]

For all that Aqua was somewhat less than pleased about the method of Ven's arrival, there was no time to actually say anything about it. In fact there was barely enough time to do more than take stock of the situation, and formulate a possible comments to Ven before Faith took down the rest of the hands, and with the main body reappearing, there was something far more important that required her time. Namely, the reappearance of the main body, and despite the fact that there were already people doing what they could to take it out as fast as possible, Aqua wasn't about to stand back and let other people do the work.

Instead, she raised her blade, and called down lightning. Thundaga wasn't really one of the spells she would have liked to use, but it was fairly effective and was less likely to accidentally hit one of the other people closing in on the main body. It would have to do.

This was the first he'd seen of the actual Hockomonkey, and Tumble certainly thought it looked like something a person would dream up. He remained by Aqua's side for the time being, deciding to save what was left of his tummy's energy in case something came up. If he wasted it now and the nightmare attacked again then he'd just be in the way.

He was getting hungry and his mood souring a little as a result. That monster had some nerve just popping up and wrecking everything. It needed to go and as soon as possible.

Sora hadn't really been expecting a little guy like Tails to be able to take the hand put like that either, but he wasn't complaining. Perhaps the hand had simply taken enough of a beating and that was the metaphorical straw that broke the camel's back. Either way, with that hand and all the rest gone, the body had returned.

It seemed odd that it wasn't doing anything. Had destroying the hands stunned it somehow? Now wasn't really the time to ponder it. This was an opening and missing it would do no good.

This time he aimed a Firaga at the monkey's head and stood ready to act, whether it be to cast another spell if the current onslaught didn't finish the bastard or to dodge if there was a counterattack coming.

Ah. There the blasted thing was. And it seemed to be unconscious, too. Excellent. Without a disembodied hand trying to wallop him, Even was able to concentrate on a more powerful (and difficult) spell. A glittering sphere of ice crystals formed on his palm, then floated almost lazily up to the monster's head. Even kept his focus on it, holding it still and steady until it struck. Then he released it, and each small crystal snapped outward into a spike of ice.

"There, Aeleus," Ienzo called, though Aeleus had doubtless noticed the reappearance of the body himself.

Ienzo glanced around; the area was too congested with people for a thunder spell to be advisable, even if they did considerable amounts of damage. He settled on another ice spell like Even's, hoping that it would reach its goal before the dream eater awoke.

"A-ha!" Luna spread her wings in an offensive display, stamping in excitement as the body finally revealed itself once more. With such a large and motionless target, there was no need to aim - she summoned a small storm cloud directly above the body, coaxing out several bolts of lightning. Ursa looked about in dim confusion, apparently baffled by the disappearance of the hands, before catching on and quickly slinging a small boulder at the monkey as well.

The hands were gone, which was good, but it looked like it wasn't quite safe to come out yet. The body had reappeared, and while it looked dazed for now, Namine didn't want to chance it suddenly waking up. Ven's spell seemed to have healed the rest of the others who were hurt, so she wated. Better to save what magic reserves she had in case the body woke up and hurt someone. Besides, it looked like everyone else was taking care of attacking.
