Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]
Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.
Where: Traverse Town
When: Throughout the day
Warnings: Depends on the characters. Expect language at least.
You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.
Good luck.

That seems simple enough. Probably just a pinch if it's a dream. Of course, with the Doctor involved, Benton has a suspicion it's a bit more complex than that.

"Yes, it would. But there's the little problem of how we got here. You aren't the only one who doesn't remember falling asleep."
no subject
"Has the same thing happened to you, Doctor? I would think something like this is right up your alley."
no subject
And also rather like an unexpected vacation and he isn't really about to complain about that. Not compared to what he might have been doing back in the waking realm.
no subject
He hasn't seen anything that could suggest Daleks or Cybermen or Autons, but you can never been to sure, and he's just covering his bases.
no subject
"I don't think so. Or if it is, they certainly aren't being very obvious about it. So either it's a very subtle invasion, or it's something like that time I ended up in the Land of Fiction."
no subject
The fact that the Doctor went to a fictional world honestly doesn't surprise Benton at all.
no subject
And it had been quite a bit of work getting back out of it again, but they'd managed in the end. And the sooner he doesn't have to go back there again, the better.

Enough that he'd had been hard at all to run across very nearly half a dozen different characters from various stories in the process of finding their way out of that realm. But it hadn't been all bad, in the long run. Or at least, not as bad as it could have been.

Perhaps there's a clue to be found here.

But the details aren't too terribly important compared to the fact that they did get out eventually. Its just not the sort of answer that is really going to work to get them out of a realm of dreams instead. After all, there's no writing oneself out of the predicament here.
no subject
"Think the circumstances are a little different here, Doctor. I don't suppose we can dream anything up that would help us?"
no subject
"Well, we can certainly try. But I'm not certain if it would help in the long run. A dream TARDIS isn't going to do much good in the real universe."
no subject
"Anything else I should be aware of?"
no subject
And for all that he hasn't really tried lately and wouldn't have been inclined much anyway, he has a suspicion that bullets will work on these enemies.

Better than he'd ever be at fighting monsters, at any rate. Not that he'd have too much of a problem with it, if he absolutely had to, but it's much nicer to not need to, and Harry does a good enough job of things, besides.
no subject
"Well, looks like I'll be counting on you then, mate." The Meow wow gives a tired wuff.
no subject
Until they wake up, most likely. And if Benton wants to help out his new ally, well, it's not like he's about to complain. It's not his Dream Eater and thus it's unlikely to be his fight. Unless it is, in which case most of the fighting on his end is probably going to be left to Harry.
