Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]

Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.
Where: Traverse Town
When: Throughout the day
Warnings: Depends on the characters. Expect language at least.

You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.

Good luck.

Ammy didn't notice right off the bat that things had changed, considering she'd last been in Traverse Town. However, she had noticed the keyhole portal suddenly missing. And she definitely noticed (and heard) the small dog barking in the square.

She approached quickly, curious. This definitely wasn't a Dream Eater. At the same time, it didn't smell quite like a normal dog. There was an air of spirits around it. Ammy sniffed at the small dog...someone new, maybe? At least with animals, she could talk to them.

She barked in greeting: Hello! Who are you?
pomergeist: (Good dog best friend)

"HELLO! Wow, you're big!"

Missile ran around Ammy, half to get a look at her proper, half because wow she was just so neat he had to do laps just to get out his excitement.

"I'm Missile, I'm a Pomeranian! Are you deaf? Someone might be looking for you."
yabigfurball: (Hmmm what's this?)

[personal profile] yabigfurball 2014-04-06 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
She was definitely big compared to this tiny of a dog...although as far as wolves went, she was a bit more on the small side. Ammy tried to follow Missile as he ran around, but it was tough to keep track of such a quick animal! He'd probably be a real great racing opponent.

She barked back: I'm Amaterasu. You can also call me Ammy. And no, I'm not deaf, I can hear you fine. Who's looking for me?
pomergeist: (YAPYAPYAPYAPYAP)

He stopped racing around in order to give her a proper sniff. Her scent was like ink, and flowers, and sunshine. He liked it a lot.

"My friend Benton! He was looking for his sorta-wolf friend. But I guess you're a different one." He yipped as realization hit him. "There's two of you! I never get to meet so many other dogs at once! This place is great!"

Ammy gave a friendly sniff back. This definitely wasn't a normal dog...it was the same kind of smell around some of the ghosts and spirits that she'd met. Very curious!

She barked in reply: I haven't seen any other dogs or wolves around besides me. Except for you, just now.

And she figured she may as well ask. You smell strange. Are you a spirit dog?
pomergeist: (Just a spirit!)

[personal profile] pomergeist 2014-04-11 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
"That's too bad. But we'll be good friends, won't we? So it's fine!"

He bounced up and down excitedly. "Yeah! Sort of. I died once! Not once, actually, a few times. It's a long story! You smell funny too, but you don't have a core!"
yabigfurball: (Hmmm what's this?)

[personal profile] yabigfurball 2014-04-13 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She barked: Yes, we can be friends! Missile was certainly much friendlier than some of the Canine Warriors she'd met...and much more exuberant!

Well that was...confusing. Regular animals didn't often die and come back to life multiple times. You will have to tell me this story sometime. She cocked her head in confusion. What do you mean, a core? The only thing she was thinking of now was an apple core.
pomergeist: (WELCOME!)

[personal profile] pomergeist 2014-04-13 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Missile probably would have made a fantastic Canine Warrior, had he the opportunity. Being a regular dog seemed like a much nicer option, though, if he were given the choice.

"A core is what people and spirits have after they've died! It lets me talk to them. And do other things, too, if I needed, but that's the important part these days."
yabigfurball: (Bestest friends)

[personal profile] yabigfurball 2014-04-15 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, Ammy figured he'd make a good canine warrior. He certainly wouldn't be as lazy as some of the canines that were supposed to be guarding the Gale Shrine! But regular dogs were just as important to the world, so she would also be happy if he remained that. Although it also sounded like "regular" wasn't part of the equation with him, anyway.

That was a little strange, considering she had died, in the distant past. Well, Shiranui had, they were just one and the same in their own way. But maybe being a god negated that. That's quite strange. And what sorts of things?
pomergeist: (Four Minutes Back)

[personal profile] pomergeist 2014-04-17 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, that depends! For most ghosts, that's it. I got lucky, though, and I got to walk backwards through time to help my friends from dying! That was probably the best part about being dead, after talking to my persons. But I haven't been able to do that for a while!" Or ever, depending on how you counted it.

He'd certainly had his time as a very irregular dog, but nowadays he kept things fairly standard, in the grand scheme of it all.
yabigfurball: (Bestest friends)

[personal profile] yabigfurball 2014-04-17 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's a powerful thing for a spirit to do, she said, actually quite impressed.

It sounded like that was a matter of opportunity, though. Maybe the opportunity wasn't available anymore? Can you not do that here? Having the ability to prevent someone from dying would be a useful skill around here, especially if it wasn't necessarily combat-oriented.
pomergeist: (Just a spirit!)

[personal profile] pomergeist 2014-04-21 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
"It was! I was really happy to be able to help." He hadn't always felt powerful, but it had been enough to make a difference, in the end.

"No, since I've stopped being dead, my spirit's stuck in my body again. Then again, I haven't had a whole lot of reason to try since then!" For that, he was thankful. Still, he was starting to get the idea that things weren't so peaceful here as his reincarnated home.

You're very lucky that you get a second chance at life, Ammy barked. Although this place is its own set of problems. Thusfar, nothing having to do with people dying, but Ammy didn't want to find out if that happened. This place was definitely less peaceful than her home, too, last she left it.
