The Fifth Sign
Who: Anyone who wants to participate
What: The zapapple harvest!
Where: Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres, the orchard where the Zapapple trees are growing
When: Afternoon
Warnings: None yet.
A lightning storm crackles over the orchard, lighting the sky with electricity for minutes on end. Only when it fades does a rainbow arch across the sky. As if by magic - and it may well be - the gray apples on the trees suddenly grow to three times their size and gain rainbow stripes. It looks like the zapapples are ripe and ready for picking. There's buckets and barrels in the barn - best get started before the sun goes down and they disappear.
As for that howling in the distance...well, surely it's nothing.
[Anyone can join; this plot is friendly for combatants and non-combatants alike; no tag order; further instructions as events warrant. Have fun!]

What the hell are those things, anyway? By contrast with the - now familiar - shapes of the Nightmares, the wolf-like creatures actually look like a threat.
Kanji's not moving, even though he's visibly unarmed apart from his Pricklemane and his own hooves. He's standing his ground. Okay, so he could still be more used to the whole 'fighting on four legs' idea, but damn it, who would he be if he ran from a challenge here?
"Hey! You lot wanna screw things up?" he yells. "You're gonna have to come through me!"
no subject
She would have been a very poor Master indeed otherwise, and she steps up next to Kanji without so much as a second thought.
"Through us, you mean," she comments, as a glow starts to build around her horn.
no subject
He glances down to his side - his Dream Eater does a happy flip, eager to get down to business as much as its person is.
"You ready? Let's do this!"
And here come the first Nightmares...
no subject
But she isn't going to let him down any further than he means to let her down, and she watches as the Nightmares draw just a little closer. Normally she wouldn't wait so long, but with things not be quite as certain here as with the magic she knows best, she's not leaving anything up to chance.
He first spell is a blast of lightning that seems to spring from the tip of her horn before arcing into the nearest nightmare. A pegasus could probably have managed something more impressive, yes, but she's only a unicorn and it does seem to doa not insignificant amount of damage to the nightmare.

He's moving quickly, here, switching targets and hitting however he can. The smaller Nightmares? Shouldn't be a problem...
no subject
How well it will work... that she doesn't know, but it certainly looks like they're made of wood and it's not such an unusual jump to assume fire in that case.
no subject
...However, it does mean that he's having to dodge the fireballs, even if they are homing in on their targets. Focusing on one opponent at a time, now, trying to kick the things to pieces - keeping an eye on the Spirits, though.
no subject
She hasn't realized, just yet, that the timberwolves are already starting to put themselves back together, but to be entirely fair she hasn't had to fight timberwolves before, and most of the enemies she has fought only need to be killed the once, barring extremely specific cases.
As for the Spirits, he's not the only one keeping an eye on them, and if there's one good thing about Cure spells it's not having to worry about their Spirits falling all to pieces.
no subject
...wait. Did he see a movement in that pile of twigs? Can't have, can he? Probably the wind or something...
no subject
But as it turns out it isn't just the wind. The fallen Timberwolves are indeed reforming, and Aqua is in just about the wrong place to notice that she might shortly be under attack from the same.

Most of them are within the Spirits' range, but some of them... crap. That's virtually right behind Aqua. The first gets to its feet and starts moving to pounce. He can see a second that's just about to follow suit. A couple more sticks, and...
"Like hell are you gonna...!"
He's got one chance. His Pricklemane's not going to make it. Even if he tried summoning his Persona - and in among these trees, he really hasn't got room - it wouldn't be fast enough.
One chance. And one option, that he barely even thinks through. He leaps to meet the Timberwolf attacks head on.
Anyone who'd fight with him is a friend. And Kanji does not let his friends down. He does not let his friends suffer.
The Timberwolves' claws strike home, cutting and splintering - he lets out a yell of both rage and hurt. But as long as it's bought her time... it's worth it.
He can take it.

Instead, she explodes into flame, and fairly literally so at that. She is the heart of a great pillarof whirling flame that damages everything it touches... save for Kanji and both sets of spirits, and she isn't letting either the Nightmares or the Timberwolves go unscathed for long, and as soon as the flames of her first spell tries down, she's following it with Megaflare, just in case the first spell hadn't already been enough.
no subject
Damn. Just damn. Even Yukiko, on her best days, hadn't been able to drop a flame attack like that. He's not sure whether to be more scared or impressed! Not going to show the scared bit, though, bar staring briefly - gritting his teeth, he starts to stand up again.
"I... think you got 'em," he says. Understatement of the year.

On the other hand, it might not be so odd after the sudden appearance of two pieces of jewelry.
no subject
Okay, this has Kanji surprised. He stumbles backwards slightly as he lifts a hoof to poke at his new ornament. He can't see it clearly, sure, but he can see Aqua's just fine... alright, it's pretty, but what've these got to do with anything?
no subject
"I think they're two of the Elements of Harmony."
no subject
Kanji looks more than a little baffled. He'd heard the name being thrown about, hard not to given everything that'd been happening, but...
"What're they doin' here?"
no subject
That they've shown up here and now is a little surprising, but there's no changing it. Not now that the decision has been made.
"They must have found us worthy, I think."

And if Kanji himself isn't entirely sure, that's alright. The most important thing is really that they've found two more of the Elements.
