The Fifth Sign
Who: Anyone who wants to participate
What: The zapapple harvest!
Where: Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres, the orchard where the Zapapple trees are growing
When: Afternoon
Warnings: None yet.
A lightning storm crackles over the orchard, lighting the sky with electricity for minutes on end. Only when it fades does a rainbow arch across the sky. As if by magic - and it may well be - the gray apples on the trees suddenly grow to three times their size and gain rainbow stripes. It looks like the zapapples are ripe and ready for picking. There's buckets and barrels in the barn - best get started before the sun goes down and they disappear.
As for that howling in the distance...well, surely it's nothing.
[Anyone can join; this plot is friendly for combatants and non-combatants alike; no tag order; further instructions as events warrant. Have fun!]

How was he going to deal with this? He couldn't fight them -- well, he supposed he could attack them hand to hand, or hoof to... branch, whatever, but the idea really didn't sell itself. He couldn't use ninjutsu without finger motions, either, so that was out. How was he supposed to fight as a pegasus!?
...As a pegasus.
Edge shot up to the low-lying clouds, grabbed one, then hauled it back down into the paths of the oncoming timber wolves. As soon as they were in range, he nodded to himself, mentally reviewed Luna's instructions... then kicked the cloud right in the sweet spot, sending lightning forking down at their attackers.

She already knew that it was pointless to try talking to Nightmares, but maybe these wolves native to this land could be reasoned with. She skidded to a halt before the trees, with her Cyber Yog close behind and eager to get fighting. She barked at the fellow timberwolves: Stop! These things aren't yours! Why are you attacking people?
And if that didn't work...well, she had her own tricks up her sleeve.

Ammy barked that Chu could go ahead, and the Cyber Yog immediately leapt into battle, charging through the oncoming timberwolves and knocking them to pieces with his horns. Ammy decided to keep her distance...she knew that one wrong hit could send her to pieces, and that'd leave her Spirits and Edge vulnerable. She did ready her tundra beads should anything get close enough to her range, and set up her brush once she was certain she could get a line of them at once...

Edge, for his part, dropped onto the cloud long enough to draw Masamune with his teeth. "This is not right," he muttered around the hilt as he lifted the blade up, tapping into its hidden power. Deep magic emerged from the blade to coalesce around Ammy in a Haste spell.

She stopped time for herself, painted a power slash across a line of three approaching Timberwolves, and then resumed time with her ink practically back to full. The power slash cut the wolves in half, and they collapsed into broken piles of sticks and bark. That would take some time to put back together!

Edge paused with a hoof raised mid-stomp, trying to puzzle out the sequence of events. Three of them had just practically exploded for some reason! He squinted down at the friendly one, still confused.
Oh well. Foes down were foes down. Edge leaped off the cloud, flying low over the piles of former timber wolf to swiftly kick them in different directions, the better to keep them from reforming.

Still feeling extra-fast, Ammy decided she'd deal with those before they got any closer. Seeing some Juggle Pups and Kyroos approaching them first, she paused time once again and painted a line of ice from her tundra beads to the enemies. Once time resumed, several of them froze into blocks of ice...it wouldn't last forever, but it was enough time for others to take them out while they were incapacitated.

That, and Chu's continued kicks should help take care of those Nightmares! There were a couple of quick ones that managed to get through, though. For these, Ammy flipped her string of tundra beads like a whip, catching the Nightmares across their fronts. A few were knocked off their feet by the attacks, while a couple suffered freezer burns, slowing them down further.

Time to whip out some big guns! Edge flipped up into the air, and from his cape flipped out a pair of shuriken with a dramatic toss of his foreleg. With pinpoint accuracy, the shuriken punched through the bodies of a pair of the downed Nightmares, dissipating them. From his superior aerial position, he continued to flick out the surprisingly-vicious throwing weapons into their opponents, confident and determined all at once.

She continued to throw out her Tundra Beads where necessary, but one Juggle Pup managed to get through and toss its enormous dice her direction. She tried to strike it with her bead whip and knock it away, but little seemed to be stopping it.
Ammy knew that she wouldn't be able to stop that thing in time...and if it hit her, she'd go completely to pieces! So she had one more answer to that: she pulled up her canvas again, and painted Veil of Mist. Once she put away her canvas, a circle of strange purple mist spread out from her point of contact, causing all of the enemies -Nightmares, Timberwolves, die and all- to suddenly be in extreme slow-motion.
no subject
But even with the mist, he could see the danger in that charging die, so he did what any pony would do -- he dropped to the ground between it at her, planted his forelegs, and bucked it with all the strength he had in his haunches. The result wasn't spectacular, because it was still moving in slow-motion, but it reversed course nonetheless, languidly bouncing back towards its thrower.

The slow-motion didn't last more than five seconds, and time soon resumed to its normal speed. Once it did, the die hit the Juggle Pup head-on, completely flattening it.
How many more of these things were left? No matter, they had to keep going! She again swung her tundra beads at an Iceguin that came too close. The ice properties wouldn't do too much against it, but those beads would still hurt.

"You holding up down there okay?!"

When Edge summoned up lightning bolts from his cloud, Ammy decided she'd 'borrow' some of those. She paused time just as the lightning struck, and painted a lint from the lightning to any enemies that looked like they wouldn't be in its path. Once she put away her canvas, another jolt of lightning branched out from the first one to blast a further group of unlucky Nightmares.
She barked up towards him: yes, she was okay!
no subject
"Oh come on, why am I even IN this fight?"
Though growing increasingly disillusioned with his own power as a pony relative to the wolf's, nevertheless he recognized opportunity when he saw it. "Can you do that more?" he called down, pushing the cloud towards the ground with a pump of his wings. "A couple more like that one and I think the victory is ours!"
no subject
She waited until he did, and again grabbed an extra stream of lightning to strike where the Nightmares and Timberwolves wouldn't expect it. It at least looked like the Timberwolves weren't reforming quickly, with Chu still scattering the branches.

Ammy again grabbed and redirected some lightning whenever Edge used his thundercloud. Anything else that somehow managed to get close enough she whipped into submission with her beads. Before long, the dust began to settle from their rapid attacks, and it looks like the hordes of both Nightmares and Timberwolves had either been eradicated or sufficiently scattered.

She let out a sigh of relief, too. She hadn't seen that many at one time in awhile, either! They must really like those apples, or something.

Ammy gave a bit of a shrug. If Edge wanted to get certain pieces first, he was welcome to go and look before she did. She fought a lot, and so had a lot of extra figments lying around.

"Hey, look at this one!" He pointed to a much larger fragment -- was that a Fancy, or maybe even a Fantasy? Edge hadn't seen either before!
