Alone in the Darkness
Who: Roxas, Emizel, and whoever dares enter Twilight Town
What: Experimenting with nightmares. For Science.
Where: Twilight Town
When: Sometime after the dreams start
Warnings: Copious amount of nightmares, Roxas's Hayner-worthy idea, and potential yelling.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
At least, that's Roxas's rational. Emizel had been worried that if they defeated all the nightmares, he'd be in trouble, so what better way to test if there was a connection than if they could get a lot of nightmares.
The plan was simple. Get treats, and then get the nightmares to follow them to a location, see if Emizel felt more energetic, and then fight off the nightmares before it got out of hand.
Roxas supposed he underestimated how many nightmares they could summon with a few treats, but they could manage, right? It's not like there were any big ones or anything.
They'd be fine.

"You have a gift for understatement, sir," said the man who had been accused of much the same sort of staid analysis himself. Jeeves watched as the spirits looked to be finishing off the Necho Cats, which just left the Toximanders to deal with. "How long have the animals been massing as such?"
no subject
"But there's less than there was."
no subject
"Very well, sir. What may I do to support you? I should like to see the creatures routed."
no subject
"Well, uh, do you have a weapon or something?"
Somehow, Roxas didn't think this guy was the type to be able to destroy things with his fists, cool as that would be.
no subject
"I burn with shame, sir. I have been remiss in that area. I did not anticipate traversing far enough into this area to require the use of one. I intend to see to the oversight as soon as possible. I am capable of acting as a distraction, as is my spirit, should that provide any use to you. Or if you have an additional weapon, I would be only too happy to 'watch your back,' as they say, if you would like to provide a more intensive assault."
no subject
"Uh...I don't really have any other weapons on me since the keyblades are kinda special, but if we can get to the sandlot, there's a few struggle bats there that you could probably use. They're kinda like swords."
Foam swords, but they could work. They hurt if someone got in a good slap.
"It's not far from here."

He glanced over to see the spirits finishing off the Toximanders and motioned for his Komory Bat to come before they could draw the immediate attention of more nightmares.

They made it to the lot without any incident, and Jeeves began looking for a wooden bat. "What form does the bat take?" he asked Roxas. "I am most accustomed to the varieties for cricket and American baseball."
no subject
Once they made it to the lot, Roxas ran over to one of the benches, pulling out a box and rummaging through it. He had to think for a moment, not being familiar with cricket or baseball. If they were games, he'd have to ask about them later.
"It's kinda like a sword," he replied, pulling out one of the blue, foam bats. "This is it. It looks flimsy, but it can hurt if you hit hard enough. And most of the nightmares that showed up are pretty weak anyway."
no subject
He stepped back and took a few experimental swings and thrusts with the bat before nodding to himself. "I believe that, as Virgil surmised, I am now ad utrumque paratus. Shall we be off to route the creatures?"
no subject
"Uh, yeah, let's go take them out," he replied, picking up his keyblades. Bouncer looked around, trying to pick up a scent, but he didn't have to look long. There were some already coming towards them.
Wanna wrap this up with a fade to black on fighting?
The valet had no great love of cruelty to animals, but the nightmares were hardly that, and ridding the world of such loathsome creatures was a good thing. He wasn't a particularly athletic man, but Jeeves was a large one, and it took only a few blows for the Nightmare to fall, turning into munny on the ground. How that even happened was still a mystery. At least no one else in the communicator archives seemed to have figured it out, either.
Sure.
He charged into the nightmares with reckless abandon, attacking and defending where he could and relying on his spirits to heal him and pick up the slack. A crowd of nightmares like this was nothing compared to some of the Heartless he's faced.
