4. Party Rock Anthem

Characters: Party People
Content: Bolin hosts a block party in Twilight Town. Food, fun, and partying! Whoo!
Location (including world): Twilight Town, The Sandlot
Time of Day: Late afternoon and into the night
Warnings: Excessive partying?
Notes: Feel free to start your own sub-threads, thread-jack, and just have fun. Open free for all is the style for threading.

Bolin, with the help of Spirits, Moogles, and various other people had finally finished setting up the party. There were tables laden with different kinds of food of course and decorations everywhere. They'd made sure to clear a space for dancing and Perry the Platypus had volunteered to DJ with some equipment borrowed from the moogles for the night. Bolin wished there could be more people so they could have games and stuff like a proper street festival...but for what he had he felt it was pretty good.

Now they just needed people to show up for the fun.

That was a pretty neat trick, even for magic. He waited until she finished refilling the glass, then took a sip.

"Yes..." He watched the party for awhile, thinking about his own students, and that barely-held hope that maybe they could get back to their own home and have that degree of happiness, too. "That's one of the best rewards one can ask for. Even if it requires constant vigilance to keep it that way."
letteropener: (chatting away)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-11 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
And a certain degree of separation from that happiness, because here were the two of them, set apart from the group. "On your world, you were a warrior and a teacher, but not a ruler, if I understand correctly?" At least that's what she'd pieced together from her very brief digressions into the subject with Ven and Aqua.

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-14 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounded like she'd been talking some with other Keybearers...most likely his students. He nodded. "My home world, we did not so much have a ruler for it..." At least not in the way that Radiant Garden had a ruler. "It was small and confined enough that it was not necessary." The others that did live in parts of Land of Departure were perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.

Well, she WAS Ven's official pony aunt...

"It is hard to imagine. Even after seeing the worlds here -- the two towns, and the ship, are all large enough to house a fairly large number of people. But a world that small..."

She shook her head, though she smiled through the gesture. "Of course, I don't disbelieve you. It is just very far from my experience."
hiptobe_eraqus: (With Xehanort)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
And knowing that Ven had somehow obtained "pony aunts" was a strange thought in of itself.

"I suppose it's not so much a matter of size in area, as size in population," he explained. "There are large amounts of land, but few people there. Not as much for a ruler to concern themselves with." The Land of Departure did exist mostly of the high mountains and long grasslands...there was really only one self-sustaining village aside from the castle, where the Keybearers lived and trained.

"But I can understand it being far from experience." Most of the worlds he'd gone to seemed to have some degree of ruling in place.
letteropener: (surprised?)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-17 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Celestia nodded to signal her comprehension. "That too is strange. Equestria is large and thriving, with many, many ponies in many towns, great and small. It is hard to imagine a whole world with few people in it at all, at least one not caused by some disaster."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Default)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-24 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Strange wouldn't be the word he'd use, but he supposed that would seem strange to someone who didn't go to see many different worlds. "Different worlds do seem to have different sizes, both in population and area."

Although from what he'd heard from Aqua...it seemed some huge disaster had befallen his home. That was not something he wanted to dwell on now. "There are few not out of disaster...just design and necessity."
letteropener: (huh)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-24 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Design and necessity?" Celestia repeated, a request for clarification. Equestria was by any standards a controlled land, thanks to the influence of ponies in all its natural functionings, but still this seemed beyond what she knew of.
hiptobe_eraqus: (Talking)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-25 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"My world is a land meant to exist in perfect balance. There could be great consequences otherwise..." Again that disaster caused by Xehanort popped up in his mind. "And that's easier to do so with less people living there. It's also secluded compared to other worlds."
letteropener: (surprised?)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-25 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Interesting." Celestia rolled the idea around in her head. It made sense as far as low population went. Humans had remarkably little ability to influenced their environment in any way, so they would have to rely on natural processes without interfering with them. "Although 'secluded' must be a relative term, speaking as somepony from a world never visited by others."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Talking)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-26 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Humans definitely didn't have the same influence on their environment that the ponies did...at least, not as direct and immediate an influence.

"Well, that's as it should be, anyway. But secluded in this sense means it is not so easy to stumble across, even for those capable of traveling worlds."
letteropener: (huh)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-26 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"How is this travel by worlds accomplished? I have seen the spaceship, but surely that cannot be the only way." The MoI spoke of power and grandeur and overwhelming force, which meshed not at all with how people spoke of travel so casually.
hiptobe_eraqus: (Default)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-28 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Typically it's not accomplished by many at all, considering its difficulty," he said. He had to admit, he didn't much understand how the MoI worked...it seemed like a warship, but he had never heard much of ships like that being used between worlds. "Spaceships themselves are rare. At least, I haven't come across many of them, and even then they seem to be localized around their world of origin."

He paused, thinking. "Otherwise...there are personal means of traveling from world to world, or sometimes magical ones. Some are more dangerous than others..."
letteropener: (all right after all)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-28 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course." That practically went without saying. "I admit I am curious about some of the magical means. I may not be in a hurry to go galloping across the universe, but I feel I ought to be prepared in case any visitors come to Equestria."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Default)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-07-30 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"It's typically only done with a Keyblade," he said. Eraqus figured that by now, Celestia had a good idea of the capabilities of one, considering the many here that used one. "As for magical means other than that...I'm afraid I couldn't give many specifics. It's extremely difficult magic, and not some that I've studied."
letteropener: (nonplussed)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-07-31 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Now at last she was surprised, but chose to set aside her questions as to why he hadn't pursued those studies as overly personal. "The Keyblades. I feel like so much comes back to them..."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Default)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-08-03 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
She might be surprised, but it wasn't exactly something he wanted to get into. Typically you did need a Keyblade to travel from world to world. The other methods often delved into use of darkness, and of course he never found that appropriate.

His response was solemn. "Yes, it often does...for good or ill."
letteropener: (worried look)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-08-04 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That dodge was so overt she couldn't help but frown just the slightest bit. Celestia knew perfectly well there was some story behind all of this -- Aqua and Roxas had given her enough dreadful pieces of the puzzle to make that clear. What she didn't know was where to start getting the whole picture.

She'd had hope for Eraqus. So much for that. Still, she could comment without asking... "I cannot imagine that the portals appearing as keyholes is a coincidence, in that light. But I'm also given to understand the spaceship was not, initially, a world visited by those who wield the Keyblade."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Default)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-08-07 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He noted the frown, but wasn't sure how to respond to it, if at all. What he said was true, but he didn't intend to elaborate on it unless asked directly, especially in a party setting. And even then, considering what had happened to him, he felt like he didn't quite have all of the pieces anymore.

"No, I'm sure it's not coincidence." Things in a Keybearer's line of work rarely were. "As for the spaceship, if any Keybearer has visited it, it's no one that I've heard of," he commented. "But it may not be necessary for any to have visited it for it to end up here, with this realm being as it is."
letteropener: (sadlestia)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-08-08 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. It is more tied to the others, the ones commonly in armor, as I understand." Though again, she was being kept out of the loop, even by her own sister, and she knew that. Though Celestia never begrudged that deliberate secrecy, convinced there was a good reason behind it, she still worried about what she didn't know and what it would tell her.

"I would not be surprised if Equestria, or some region of it, appeared to us soon. My sister and two of my subjects are here, as well as myself."
hiptobe_eraqus: (Determined)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-08-08 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Eraqus definitely got the sense he was being kept out of the loop in regards to the Freelancer's home world, too. And considering some of his conversations with Wash, North and the others, he wasn't terribly pleased about that. "Yes, although it doesn't seem they are quite as fond of the place as most are of their homes."

"For your own sake, I hope not," he said with a small frown. As much as he was sure that the ponies would like to see their home world again, having it end up here would mean it had fallen into sleep, and that wouldn't be good for any of their friends.

He paused for a moment, thinking. "...Although if it did, it may or may not have some interesting effects on anyone visiting it."
letteropener: (shadowed sisters)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-08-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps... but if you have not heard, my sister and I are from two distinctly different times. She has fallen into the dream worlds much earlier than I have, and yet I never noted her missing. Falling into dreams like this appears to be not only harmless, but instantaneous, or at least very brief. So I do not fear any harm coming to Equestria, if it appears here. If it helps us helps others, I would be grateful for its aid."

Her wings had unconsciously spread a little during this monologue; now she folded them back up a little, without a hint of self-consciousness. "But what do you mean, interesting effects?"
hiptobe_eraqus: (Excuse me?)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-08-09 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
He had both heard of it happening, and experienced some of it himself, what with Aqua and Ventus both arriving from times after his had ended. However, his situation was different compared to most everyone else. "I've heard of it happening, yes. However, as long as that world is here, it would mean that everyone in it is also asleep...and would stay that way until we were able to free the world and ourselves from the realm."

"Well, the rules of some worlds are such that outsiders cannot visit them without undergoing a change to better suit them to it," he mused. He'd encountered one world where he'd had to take on a different form to navigate it. "And if you've never encountered humans before coming here, I wouldn't be surprised a change was necessary for your world."
letteropener: (fond smile)

[personal profile] letteropener 2013-08-09 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"The promise of any world falling asleep until freedom is not tolerable to me," Celestia said equitably, "so as long as any one of them is so, I will work to free it. From that perspective, in a way, it doesn't matter how many succumb to sleep, so long as they are all freed in the end."

True, she didn't like the idea of Equestria falling into dreams... but if was necessary to solve the problem, so be it, just as her own presence here might be.

"It is true we have not," Celestia continued, a little more wonderingly. "That would necessitate a change?"
hiptobe_eraqus: (Talking)

[personal profile] hiptobe_eraqus 2013-08-12 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Eraqus nodded. "And I think, once we get to the bottom of what is causing it in the first place, it should help all of the worlds stuck here." At least, he certainly hoped so.

"Perhaps, and perhaps not," he said. It would be impossible to know for sure unless someone visited it. But if a Keybearer had visited it, then the ponies likely wouldn't have even known about it if that Keybearer had had to become a pony themselves. "It depends on the individual laws of that world. But to me it seems more likely, since yours sounds particular about it."
