4. Party Rock Anthem

Bolin, with the help of Spirits, Moogles, and various other people had finally finished setting up the party. There were tables laden with different kinds of food of course and decorations everywhere. They'd made sure to clear a space for dancing and Perry the Platypus had volunteered to DJ with some equipment borrowed from the moogles for the night. Bolin wished there could be more people so they could have games and stuff like a proper street festival...but for what he had he felt it was pretty good.

Now they just needed people to show up for the fun.

Lea waited. He always thought the blue cotton candy tasted blue, but it didn't taste really blue. It was just sugar that was kind of blue. "Wanna get the one that's both colors?"

"I think so. That way I can try both." It would be the best way to see if there was a difference, and, if there was, which she liked better. That decided, she bought one of the bags and pulled out some of the pink to try first.

It was sweet--sweeter than any of the ice cream she'd tried, or chocolate. That and didn't even seem solid. It just melted in her mouth, leaving a sticky feeling. She was going to need to wash up after this. As it was, she licked her lips. "That's really sweet."

"Yeah, it's pretty much sweeter than anything. Is it too sweet for you?" Lea asked. If she liked sea salt ice cream it might be; he hadn't actually thought of that.

Xion tilted her head in thought. "I'm not sure." It had just been so surprising, she hadn't really had a chance to think about whether or not she liked it.

The portion she had in her hand was small enough to finish quickly, so she set to work on that. By the time it was finished, her hand and mouth were sticky and vaguely tinted pink. "I think I like ice cream better. This is about all I can eat at once."

It wasn't even half of the pink portion. This cotton candy would last her a long time; hopefully it would keep for a while.

"At least now you know," Lea said. "I like ice cream better too, but this is nice if you just want something super sweet. If you seal it up, it should stay good as long as it doesn't get wet."

"Yeah." It wasn't that the cotton candy tasted bad, it was the sweetness overload. Maybe Xion could just have a little bit every so often. For the moment, she did as Lea said and sealed up the back tightly. "Thanks."

Taking a look at her hands, she laughed. "Now I need to get cleaned up."

Lea laughed as well. "Sorry, that's a side effect of eating it. Want me to wait for you?"

"If you don't mind? It'll just take a minute." Xion hurried off to find one of the temporary washrooms that had been set up. Not very nice, but at least she could wash her hands.

That done, she went back to find Lea. "Okay, where to next?"

"They've got the one big game up, but mostly at things like this you walk around and meet people. It's pretty neat to see everyone here together." He hadn't really gotten around to talking to anyone new, but he had a lot of friends here already. And if Xehanort were involved in anything here, people might not be safe. Lea shook himself; he didn't want to think about that guy today.

"I don't think we've had everyone together in a long time--not since we tried to have a meeting the first time the shared nightmares started." Xion frowned in thought. It was nice to have a fun reason to see everyone, even if the crowd could be a little intimidating. Well, she could wander and find people or let them find her.

"I don't think I was here for that." It sounded like it hadn't gotten far, though. That wasn't too surprising; this place wasn't giving them much to go on. They might have to wait and hope that Kairi and Yen Sid figured out a way to get them out of it, but he didn't think that was a good idea. He was terrible at waiting anyway.

Xion shook her head. "No, it was before you got here."

They really didn't have much to go on, even after being her for several months and two new worlds having opened. If they didn't figure it out, someone from the waking world probably would find a way to help them, but that could be a while. Xion could be patient, but she didn't know if she was that patient.

"We should try to step up our game." But how? Everyone had looked around - he definitely had - and nothing seemed to totally add up. The clues were there, but they didn't know what they meant.

"We should, but even the clues we have aren't much, and we've been looking..." It's discouraging, really. With all those recon missions, Xion should be able to investigate better.

"Well, we'll figure it out sooner or later." Hopefully sooner. Later tended to be bad and messy, in his experience.

"Yeah, we will." Xion smiled. Sooner would be much better. "Later" tended to include all kinds of nasty possibilities.
