4. Party Rock Anthem

Bolin, with the help of Spirits, Moogles, and various other people had finally finished setting up the party. There were tables laden with different kinds of food of course and decorations everywhere. They'd made sure to clear a space for dancing and Perry the Platypus had volunteered to DJ with some equipment borrowed from the moogles for the night. Bolin wished there could be more people so they could have games and stuff like a proper street festival...but for what he had he felt it was pretty good.

Now they just needed people to show up for the fun.

Hmm, perhaps her trajectory was a little off. Ammy regarded the pieces she'd won, and then carefully took them from the moogle. She remembered seeing other Necho Cats...some were nice, and some were not so nice. But thinking about it now, a cat would probably be useful to have, the same way Konohana was proving handy.

She gave the moogle a nod of thanks for the prize.

"You're welcome! Let me know if you want to try again, kupo."

Try again? She thought for a moment. Well, if she didn't want the Spirit the pieces made, she could always give them away to someone. And as for the cost, nothing good came out of having too much money, anyway!

She pulled out two more munny, handed them to Steven, and then stepped back so there was space to toss the ball to her.

"Alright, kupo!" Steven stashed the munny and pulled out another ball, waiting until Ammy was ready before tossing it. "Here it comes, kupo!"

Again, Ammy watched the ball come towards her, stopped time for it, and studied her "throw" as best as possible before power slashing it back. Considering how light and bouncy the ball was, she tried to adjust her earlier judgments on what it would take to get it to the center. Once satisfied on this new try, she resumed time and the power slash sent the ball back in mid-air.

It doesn't seem to have helped, as the ball bounces off a few rims and eventually rolls right off the table. "Ooh, tough break, kupo. Want another try?"

Oof...perhaps a bit too much compensation. Ammy looked disappointed, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try again.

She shook out her head, came forward to offer two more munny, and then stepped back for another try.

He'd take that as a yes. Steven stowed the munny and sent another ball sailing her way.

And once again, Ammy paused the ball just before her and tried to figure out her throw. Maybe she was just thinking too hard about it. This kind of game was like fishing...it was all about attitude!

So she looked between the ping-pong ball and the bowl for just a little while, figured she had the distance well enough, and power slashed it back.

That may not have been quite the right attitude, as this ball plinked off two different bowls before bouncing off the table as well. "Tough luck today, kupo. Wanna try again?"

...And sometimes fishing was about trying a lot and still getting no bites. Ammy sighed...tough luck indeed!

She shook her head no. Having the pieces of a Necho Cat would be fine for now, at least. She did, however, decide to leave something extra. She pulled out her purse one more time, and left Steve with a ten-munny tip. It probably took some time to set up these games, after all.

"Mixed signals, kupo." Steven plonked five more balls on the table loud enough for Ammy to hear. It was a nice thought, but Moogles didn't do tips.

Ammy didn't quite get that. She looked at the extra balls, then cocked her head at the moogle in confusion. No, it wasn't for more balls, it was just a thank you for setting up the fun activity.

"We don't do tips, kupo. You just bought five more tries."

Well...oops. She didn't think that'd have to be required for giving over some extra. But she supposed there was no use trying to change that now.

She regarded the balls for a bit. Maybe this time it'd be good to ask about any other unknown rules. She pushed aside two balls with her paw, tapped the table, and then looked up at the moogle. Can she try with more than one ball at a time?

The rules were simple enough, and they didn't disallow multiple balls. "Sure, if you think it'll help, kupo."

Well, in that case, she may as well give it a try. This was a bit trickier, but still doable.

She scooped the two balls off the table and onto her nose, then flipped them up into the air. Once in midair, she froze time, judged their proximity to the water bowls, and then painted power slash across them both. Time resumed, and they sailed over to the bowls.

The balls flew towards the bowls, plinking across rims and colliding, sending one ball into the bowl it was over and the other ball bouncing off the table. "Nice try, kupo! That one's a Cyber Yog."

Huuh. What was a Cyber Yog supposed to be, anyway? She supposed she'd have to find out by making it, or perhaps see from someone who had one.

In the meanwhile, there were still three tries left. She decided to do the same as last time, and picked out two to throw at once. She bounced them off her nose, then directed them at the bowls with power slash.

The balls bounced off each other. One plonked straight into a bowl; the other bounced around a few rims before landing in another. "Pretty good, kupo! A Peepsta Hoo and a Meow Wow."

Wow, at this point, she was practically going to have a zoo! Maybe some of the others in her household (or otherwise) would appreciate the free pieces if she didn't get all the Spirits from them. She still took the prize pieces, and put them aside.

That left one more ball! May as well make this last one a bit of fun, since chance seemed to be a large element of this game, anyway.

This time, no brush techniques. She just carefully picked the ball up in her teeth, aimed her head towards the bowls, and then spat it back out at them.

The ball bounced off two rims before settling in a third bowl. "That one's a KO Kabuto, kupo."

Once again, something she hadn't heard of before. This seemed like plenty of variety to choose from.

She took the new prize pieces, and added them to her collection. This time, she just gave a nod of thanks to the moogle. It was a fun game!

Steven waved back at her and turned to refilling bowls as she headed off. "See you later, kupo!"
