4. Party Rock Anthem

Bolin, with the help of Spirits, Moogles, and various other people had finally finished setting up the party. There were tables laden with different kinds of food of course and decorations everywhere. They'd made sure to clear a space for dancing and Perry the Platypus had volunteered to DJ with some equipment borrowed from the moogles for the night. Bolin wished there could be more people so they could have games and stuff like a proper street festival...but for what he had he felt it was pretty good.

Now they just needed people to show up for the fun.

Having found most of her friends, Xion had gathered up Manda, Barkley, and some snacks for them all to enjoy on the sidelines of the crowd. Not quite sure what to do now, she was enjoying some quiet time with her Spirits.

Still, it wouldn't be difficult for an onlooker to notice the girl in a black hoodie, jeans, and sneakers, sitting with her Meow Wow and Toximander and watching the crowd.

Jack was doing as much as he could, this being his first party in centuries after all. He noticed Xion with her friends but had given her some time with them. Now, however, she was sitting by herself. Jack grinned to himself and took to the air. He quietly flew up behind the girl and slipped his hands over her eyes from above, "Guess who."

When Xion's vision was blocked, the first thing she did was go very still, tensing slightly and ready to lash out if this were really an attack. The lack of threat in the tone of the voice that spoke, along with Barkley using his 'c'mon friend, you're supposed to play with me' bark, made her relax slightly. There were very few people here who might try something like this with her, and she'd already spoken to most of them this evening. "Jack Frost?"

Guess made, she reached up to move his hands. She'd had enough of having her eyes covered.

"Good job." Jack pulled his hands away even as she reached to move them. Jack had his usual smile on his face. He had to admit he liked the "guess who" game when people could actually say his name and see him. He'd tried it before when he was invisible and it just didn't have the same appeal. He straightened up in the air, resting his hands in the pockets of his hoody, "Having fun?"

"I think so. Just taking a break, now." Xion had fully relaxed once she could see again, and returned the smile. This being the first party, and she herself not being used to thinking of things in terms of 'fun' and 'not fun,' she couldn't be sure yet, but so far everything was close to what she thought 'fun' might feel like.

"I see. Well at least you've been enjoying yourself. I guess if you're not used to parties it can be hard to keep up the energy." Jack was so used to being a party watcher that he was a little lost at what to do at an actual one where he could be seen. He smiled though, "Have you seen the moogle games yet?"

Xion nodded. "I've never even been to one to one before." This being her first party even as an observer, she'd been grateful for her friends' help. Down time was needed, though, hence the break. That didn't mean that Jack was unwelcome, though. "Not yet. I thought maybe after I finished here."

Jack was suddenly reminded of their snow fight. She'd never done that before either. "Well, I'm kind of in the same boat. I've been the plenty, but there I was always just watching the party happen. Never quite as fun to just sit and watch and not be able to do anything, you know?"

Jack smiled and held up his bag of dream pieces he'd won. There were...quite a lot. Someone clearly didn't mind spending their munny. "It's fun. I even managed to get the special prize."

There were lots of fun things Xion hadn't done. They'd just have to make up for lost time. For a moment she wondered how Jack could be at a party and not be able to join in, then she remembered how happy and surprised he'd been that everyone could see him. Biting back any questions regarding that, she simply gave a sympathetic nod. "I don't think it would be. Even if it's a lot to take in at once, being able to join in is nice."

Her sympathetic expression changed to a smile to match his when he held up his prizes. "I bet you could make a lot of Spirits with those."

He nodded, not bothering to look into the bag. "I think I'm going to make a few new ones soon. I think I went a bit overboard though because I also know that a lot of these I'm not going to make." The bag made a sort of jingling noise as he shifted his weight, "I guess I can ask around or just keep the dream pieces that I don't plan on using for later."

He paused and then asked, "You don't happen to like Wheeflowers do you? Cause I won TWO of those and flowers aren't really my thing."

From the size and apparent weight of the bag, Xion could believe Jack wouldn't be making all of the Spirits he had won. How many times had Jack played to be able to win that many? "You must have tried a lot. Is the special prize hard to get?"

She tilted her head in thought. Flowers were something she was neutral on. "I hadn't thought of getting one yet, but if you're sure..."

Flowers were something new to her, but she could try. Wheeflowers were supposed to be helpful, too, healing a lot.

"Yeah, surprisingly so. I thought I had good aim but I guess even I can miss every once in awhile. Apparently it's a super rare spirit or something. Mine was a Kab Kabuto, but I heard other people winning other kinds." He was a little competitive about getting it and he wasn't afraid to admit it.

He nodded and scooped out the appropriate pieces, "Sure. I especially don't need two."

"Oh, so it's not always the same thing?" That made the game sound even more interesting. Xion knew of some rare Spirits she'd like to get, maybe she should try to see if they were available this way. She might not be as competitive as Jack, but she was meant to be Sora's Replica, and missions had taught her well about setting goals and reaching them.

The offered pieces were accepted with a smile. "Thank you."
