Wash had been out Nightmare hunting, looking to build up a stockpile of parts and maybe get one of those bears for himself. They seemed to be pretty useful - he figured anything he hated fighting had to make a pretty good ally. He'd moved into the Fifth District about ten minutes ago and hadn't seen a Nightmare since, which was odd - usually he could count on them appearing here. Fang landed on his shoulder, chittering in confusion, and he reached up to scratch behind the bat's ears. "We should probably go somewhere else, huh."
The bat was partway through an unintelligible reply when a horrific screech sounded in the district and something behind him shattered. He threw himself to the side on pure instinct, clutching Fang to his chest as he rolled in an attempt to shield the bat from whatever was going on. He rolled to a knee, releasing Fang and going for his rifle in one fluid movement, only to see the pavement covered in shattered glass and the roof of the greenhouse blown out.
On one hand, going towards whatever had caused that was probably a grade-A Bad Idea. On the other hand, there might be another clue to the increasingly complicated puzzle that was this city in there. He glances towards Fang, nods, and heads for the greenhouse door. Pushing it open, he slips inside, looking towards the broken roof, and-
Oh fuck that thing is big. And missing legs. But mostly big. He gapes for a moment, managing to get his head back in the game right as that paw comes flying at him and dodging, moving to throw himself out of the way.
