Training time (open)
Who: Kanji and anyone who runs into him!
What: Training time for Kanji and his duo
When: Sometime after the fourth wall business
Where: Around Traverse Town, ending at the Fourth District
Warnings: Nothing so much?
Kanji wasn't much of a magic user. Okay, so perhaps he'd had to step into that position during the skirmishes with Nightmare Moon, but he'd never had the power to keep it going, never had the force behind his attacks some did. It was his own strength that he trusted most, and it was that that he wanted to work on, right now.
With his Dream Eaters by his side, he was working his way around the town, checking out the usual spots for Nightmares to be found; Plum and Jet (as the Meowjesty had come to be known) taking care of business with their usual speed, and with various treats being thrown around at the end of it all... they deserved it.
In the end, he could be found in the square at the bottom of the hill in the Fourth District. Around the place, some of the barrels and crates that seemed to be omnipresent, piled up. (And a few with Nightmares' - or even Nightmare Moon's - face drawn on them.) While the Spirits were playing on the steps - time for a bit of target practice.
With his typical yelling, he rushed the barrels, swinging his shield around viciously - but not with any regard for what it was supposed to be, not with any finesse, just another blunt instrument to be wielded. How long before any of his targets broke under the onslaught? Not the most elegant training method, but ...
...well, he'd make do.

"It certainly couldn't hurt. Even if they can only manage something similar enough to this."
no subject
"Alright." He fidgets slightly. "D'ya mind if I..." Looking around, now, to see if he can spot a pompom.
no subject
He's patient enough to wait however long it might take for Kanji to find a moogle. He wouldn't be surprised if one turns out to not be terribly far away, but if not he doesn't have anything that is likely to require his attention at the moment.
no subject
Excuse him a minute, then. His discussion with the nearest moogle is going to be a trainwreck insofar as anything that could be considered haggling savvy goes - damn, they've got some nice stuff, but there isn't a chance in ... anywhere that he's going to be able to afford it.
What he does manage to find, though, is a plain but serviceable - and most notably big - warhammer.
"Uh. Did I overdo it?"
no subject
"That depends. Are you able to easily lift and wield it?"

There's a demonstration after his words. True, Aeleus isn't attacking any of the targets that Kanji had set up - especially since Skysplitter might easily have left very little for Kanji's own use - but Aeleus moves through the motions of attacking all the same, at a pace that is hopefully slow enough that Kanji can spot what he's doing.

"Okay, not so bad..."

And to judge by the nod that came just before his comment, it's reasonable enough to assume that Kanji's made a good start on figuring out how best to wield a weapon like the one currently in his hands.

And he does know what he's doing besides, even if he's never really taken on anything much like an apprentice. But he'll manage one way or another, of that he's reasonable certain. Even if it might just as much a learning experience for him as it would be for Kanji.

He's not entirely used to playing the good student either. But this isn't something he'll be able to play around with, he knows.
no subject
Instead, he simply nods. There's nothing else he can really think to say, and so he figures that silence will do.

"Look, uh. How about I see how I get on with this thing for now, yeah? I won't try anythin' big. I'll just see if I can get used to the feel of it."
no subject
"Of course. And if you need me, I shouldn't be far away."

"My apologies. It's Aeleus."
