This is what's wrong with you, Fraser.
Who: Benton Fraser (
lickedthat) and you; please consider this an open post for anyone not participating in the boss battles.
What: He's not armed -- after all, he hasn't been able to find out what the local weapons laws are yet -- but he can still help get other noncombatants to safety before they find themselves in the line of danger.
When: After this post until the boss battles reach full swing.
Where: Around Traverse Town.
Warnings: PG/none expected!
Fraser frowned, coming to a stop at the cobbled corner of a building, and sniffed the air. He might not have learned this city's characteristic odors yet, but there was something in the air like a hint of ozone -- like the threat of lightning no closer than the horizon.
Also rotting vegetables, sawdust and a hint of pine sap from the crates piled in the alleyway, a touch of algal contamination in a gutter and the fading scent of crowded humanity. Most of them, he supposed, had found refuge in their own homes. The others out now were either seeking the creatures themselves, lost without safe harbor, or had simply missed the announcement; and although option number one was composed of those who could largely take care of themselves, two and three might need assistance finding their way inside.
At least, thanks to Jack, he knew his way through the city properly now.
He turned the corner, picking up the pace.

But then she freaked out, jumping off of Donna's shoulder and hopping over to someone who had just turned the corner, putting herself between him and her person.
"Oh, hello." Donna said, before looking down at River. "You can calm down a bit, he's fine."

"Good afternoon, ma'am. May I ask, er--" She didn't look like a warrior, but he couldn't quite pin down her profession (typist? That wrist angle--) and he wouldn't bet on his own ability to identify magicians in any case. He opted for politeness. "If you would rather not encounter any of those creatures, do you have someplace to stay? I'm afraid they might pop up at any moment."

"That's where I'm headed, my commandeered apartment is that way." She gestured in the general direction of where she and the Doctor had claimed a couple of rooms. "You heading towards the fights? Or staying out of it?"

Trudeau frolicked back towards his feet, unconcerned now that the other Spirit had given up its threat.
"Benton Fraser, RCMP," he added, and touched the brim of his hat politely. "Pleased to meet you."

"Donna Noble, current traveler." She didn't know if that would make much sense, but it would work. "Please to meet you too. You new?"

Would she know the city? He hesitated, glancing to her for her reaction. She might look human, but he wasn't sure if that meant she was from Earth.

"This is going to sound like a strange question, but what year was it?"

Fraser glanced around the street. "... I do enjoy the conversation, but we should keep moving. I'm not sure exactly where those monsters might be concealing themselves. Shall we?"

"Good point." She pointed in the direction she had been walking. "My place is this way. Heading that direction?"

The Meow Wow glanced up from the corner of a box it had been snuffling at and bounced back toward him. He frowned at it.
"The first time, Trudeau. And you're not even deaf!"
