Boss Run, Round Four
Who: A Nightmare and you!
What: BOSS BATTLE
Where: Fifth District, Greenhouse
When: About two hours after this post
Warnings: Violence. On account of boss fights.
It's quiet. Much quieter than this area usually is - the fact that it's devoid of Nightmares might have something to do with that.
You've heard about the Nightmares Spellican summoned. Right now, all you can do is be on your guard and wait.
[OOC: Everyone gets the same prompt to start; the only difference is the location. Please reference this post for boss battle tagging rules. Once a good number of people have tagged into each prompt, we'll introduce the bosses. After a boss has tagged into a thread, no new characters may tag in. Ready? Go!]

Shouldering her battlerifle a moment once she's stepped out onto the small square before the Greenhouse, she eyed the building thoughtfully, before addressing those with her.
"We can head inside, or up onto the roof which is a little smashed up, so we'd need to watch our steps. Any preferences?"
no subject
Hawkeye had already scoped it out the last time he'd been at the Greenhouse. Not to mention with his weapons he worked better if he had a good visual and distance. He'd made sure his quiver was filled with a variety and the Moogles had interesting suggestions as well.
"If no one else wants up there that's fine. Might be better to cover more ground." Of course, if the Nightmare popped in on the roof and not the ground Clint would have to hold it off until someone else got up there. He wasn't too worried though, he'd held off the Hulk for God's sake...holding off a Nightmare would be nothing.

All this to say, she didn't speak up for a preference. She fared about as well on high as on the ground, so long as she had a weapon in her hand, even if it was borrowed from Carolina. She'd go wherever she thought she might be needed, once things got going.

Close range is never the best place to be when your primary weapon is a sniper rifle. North's voice is still flat though, indicating his nerves and general feelings towards the situation.

But if most people here were looking to the roof, what with their multitude of guns (uuugh), she and her Spirits could guard the greenhouse itself.

"So much for the roof!" He shouts as his hand goes to the quiver on his back. There're three arrows notched and flying towards the bee monster even as he's moving to dodge incoming attacks. The arrows will pack a bit of a punch, it's just a matter of whether they hit the bee, the missiles, or get thrown off course by the Buzzerfly herself.

As do the stinger missiles.
Carolina didn't stop to wait and see what sort of damage they might do, bolting forwards and flipping quickly into a fast roll to avoid the missiles. With something airborne like that, she was at a disadvantage - but it wasn't anything she couldn't deal with. "York wasn't kidding about the size," she muttered, rechecking the clip on her magnum; Chell had her rifle now and would no doubt make good use of it.
"If we can attack from above AND below, all to the better! Anyone who can get up there, do so," she yelled, before dodging a second missile and darting into the building proper. Mindful of the ramp down into the garden, she took aim at the head of the bug Nightmare and started firing.
And where the hell was the Meta? ...Something to worry about when they were done here.

"I'm going to head for that balcony over there. Tank, return fire!" He yells at his Kab Kanon, who wordlessly starts to line up a shot.
no subject
"Really hope that wherever the Meta is, it isn't where the Alpha is."

As he makes his way up the ramp, pulling more arrows out on the way, he makes quick assessments of everyone's abilities. The guys in armor rely mostly on your traditional kinds of weapons it seems. Meanwhile there's also apparently a magic user who looks like a witch straight out of Asgard. The weirdest members of the crew were certainly the dog and the giant talking lizard...who could shoot fireballs. There's two other "normal" people as well, but Clint doesn't get much more time to figure out how they'll be of use before the Buzzerfly is coming up with a counter-strike.
A counter-strike that involves more bees.
"Really we need more bees? Is this some kind of deadly bee weapon or something?" Clint jumps up onto the railing of the ramp in the green house and notches another arrow. "Makes me wish I had bug spray in one of these." Instead, he goes with the next best thing: nets. Nothing like catching bugs, right? The two arrows he fires at the on coming Nightmare bees will detonate upon impact and their targets will (hopefully) be ensnared Pinhead launches from behind Clint to start smacking at the bees with his spikes and will go after any ensnared bees.

"Theta, what happened?"
"I-i dunno. Hang on!" the AI shouts, clearly panicked as the dome shield comes up around them again."Sorry North."
"Worry about it later," North replies, "And get ready to let some bullets through. Tank, keep on the big one!"
He'll focus on hitting the smaller bees.

Ammy whined with anxiety at her Spirits' plight. They hadn't even been on the offensive, and got hurt! But she had to trust that they could help up themselves, and try to draw the enemy fire away from them instead.
Of course these Nightmares had to make things more complicated. Couldn't just fight one on one! (Even if they were obviously more than one.) But they'd have to get through these things first if they had hope of taking down the big one. She noted Guilmon's stray fireball -as well as that very strange fire from what looked like a spirit or a witch -and decided it wouldn't be a good idea to add to fire in a greenhouse.
Ammy gave herself just a moment's pause to stop and mentally replace the Solar Flare for the Thunder Edge. Once she felt that over her back, she paused time and grabbed some of the electricity from her glaive, painting a line of lightning straight to the bees that she could see. Once she put away her canvas, those bees should get quite the shock.

Maleficent dropped her shield and instead swept her staff in a half-circle before her, leaving behind half a dozen rolling spheres of green fire. A simple wave of her hand released them to fly forward at the Queen. Whether they struck the smaller bees or made it through, she did not particularly care. Medea took flight from her shoulder, sonic waves ready to take down any bee that made it close.

Lela turned back, dismayed, before dancing away from Caboose. She pranced past her person, in the midst of reloading one of her clips, in order to leap up and slide down one of the railings, dropping more lyric bombs as she went. Carolina however paused to watch that gem shine, expression growing suspicious.
"That can't be good," she said in aside to Epsilon, before rechecking the magnum. Then taking aim to fire at the gem - hey, if it's going to make itself a brighter target, then by all means, she'll shoot at it!

Speaking of which Pinhead gets snagged in the nets. His over-eagerness to help is apparently a detriment here because Clint KNOWS he aimed well. Clint curses under his breath as his dream eater squirms under the net and tries to free himself. Clint has a choice here he can either try to untangle his new found pet or he can shoot down more bees. Thankfully, before he can make that call his pinhead of a partner figures out he can use his spikes to tear the nets. He's free and bashing on the captured bees next to him.
Which is good because Clint is already distracted by the flashing gem on the queen's head. Flashing like a carnival game target that's just begging to be hit. Clint doesn't know if it'll actually do anything. Heck, for all he knows it's the "Press here to summon MORE bees" button.
God he hopes it's not the "Summon More Bees" button. Clint plucks another arrow from his quiver, pulls back the string, and lets it fly...right before jumping down to dodge an incoming missile. But that's okay because the arrow he just fired is a kind of explosive too. One missile for another, right?

Still, all he can do is try again. He takes aim carefully with Theta whispering helpful advice in his ear.
Tank looks unaffected but his next attack has a bit more vinegar in it as he aims for the changing gen.

"Does anyone know what color that was beforehand? Maybe it associated with something--like a-a mode!"
This really wasn't going well for any of them, and then of course there was more missiles. "Harkness try not to hit any of our allies this time!" he calls, going with the same ricochet plan as the first time, hoping nothing goes wrong this time. The Doctor crouches behind his cover.
They've got a lot of fire-based attacks and not enough variety, but then the Doctor doesn't know a whole lot about the other kinds of Dream Eaters present. "Can anyone do some kind of water attack? If we can limit her ability to fly..." It'd work on regular bees, anyway. Sag their wings, make it harder.
Sadly the Queen is far from a usual bee.

Missed shots, followed by lasers, get a growl from Carolina, who ducks one blast as it arcs over the edge of the barrier she was crouched behind. Then she moves, running straight down the ramp and firing her weapons as she goes, aiming not at the formerly glowing gem, but at damaged ceiling beam joints above the Queen's head. Perhaps there was enough left of the glass ceiling and its structure to collapse it on her wings, if not the nightmare itself.
Lela YOWLED loudly, then charged forwards, leaping at the abdomen of the Queen with clawful intent, spinning about to add tail slaps as well, hoping to keep the Queen's attention and maybe even the laser blasts following after her - all the better to provide her Person and the others with an opening.

His Hebby Repp totters after him after only a few stunned moments and throws itself headlong at the Queen in turn, evidently hoping to make up for both its flagging energy and the lasers showering down through the rain with pure fighting spirit.

Tank, in the meantime, scuttles until he's under the lasers and fires several shots.

Kri-kri called down as powerful Thundaga spells as he could manage. Water-flying type has a weakness to electricity with a multiplier by four. Its bat pal, nearly dizzy from all the loops it pulled trying to dodge the Queen's attacked, backed the Cyber Yog up with a Magic Haste spell. The more shots they could get in, the better!
With her latest goal met, Chell returned to her first task--getting to as high a ground as possible. All she could do was keep on the move and fire some shots at the Queen Buzzerfly whenever opportunity arose: with most of the team on the ground, hopefully she could get a few good hits in while the enemy was preoccupied.

He gathers Harkness awkwardly into his arms. "Hey - hey, Harkness, buddy, you're okay."
The Hebby Repp squeaks. The Doctor sighs, slightly reassured, and looks around at the others, making tally of everyone until he has to do a double-take at trying to find North. He stumbles to his feet, Harkness still in hand, and makes his way towards where the large debris came down to check on his ally.
no subject
That's really the last thought he has before he's stunned by one of the chunks of debris. Thankfully the last bits of shield and his armour prevent a large injury, but it's enough to stun him and for Theta to panic. The little AI is flashing red, hoping to attract attention.

This immediately attracted the attention of her Spirits, who came running back over. Konohana of course offered up a cure spell, while Chu bleated with irritation. How had this happened?! Ammy shook out her head and barked to her Spirits: she'd be all right! They had to go check out anyone who was worse off.
At least the enemy was gone, right? But man, this stuff was gonna take awhile to clean up!

The archer eyes the room, eyebrow raised, "Everyone all right? Need one of those potions or something?" He kicks at a piece of munny on the ground. He's gotten used to the whole exploding monsters by now, though the idea of collecting goods like that still baffles him.
