Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]

Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.

You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.

Pinkie tilted her head at Dash. "Oh, that doesn't work. We've tried it. I was the first one who tried jumping off a building, though! That didn't work either."

"Oh, this is Lord Tubbington the Third! He's my Meowjesty! Say hi, Lord Tubbington!" Lord Tubbington made a rumbly sort of mewing sound, before flopping down onto his belly.

"So this is something you dreamed up." Rainbow shook her head, thinking it was very... Pinkie. "And we can't wake up no matter what we do. Um... Princess Luna isn't having..." She bit her lip, not sure how to put this delicately. "Issues, is she?"

[sailorlaughter]

"Yeah, kinda," Pinkie replied nonchalantly. "She's been upset ever since the Nightmares made a Nightmare Moon clone in Ponyville. I haven't gone to visit her, 'cause she's not really come out of her room much but Princess Celestia's been in there with her and that's probably better anyway, but I left them some scones and stuff."

"Oh! And, uh...I think she wanted us not to tell all her human friends about the whole Nightmare Moon thing, but now that they've all SEEN Nightmare Moon, I dunno what she wants. Maybe just don't do that anyway?" It was a secret now, and she'd promised.

Rainbow attempted to parse this glut of information into comprehensible chunks. Princesses, Nightmare Moon clone, scones, human friends --

"Wait, what friends?"

[sailorlaughter]

"Humans! They're like..." Pinkie stood up on her hind hooves and did her best human impression, which mostly consisted of swinging her forelegs as close to her sides as she could get them. "...those big pink monkey guys walking around! They're pretty cool!"

"What are you talking about? Those aren't the bear things that gave me these things, are they?" Rainbow brandished her legful of figments at Pinkie.

[sailorlaughter]

"No, those were Moogles." Pinkie jabbed a hoof at the figments. "And you can use THOSE to make a spirit! Like Lord Tubbington! Wellllll, not exactly like him, he's kinda a rare one."

"Is THAT what they were talking about when they went on and on about it?!" Rainbow had gotten the completely wrong impression from the Moogle, thanks to not really listening. "So what, I could make like a seal or a parrot or something?"

[sailorlaughter]

"Mmmmm...I think you need different parts for a seal!" Pinkie prodded at the pieces experimentally. "These ones usually make cats or lizards or bats or mini-Lord Tubbingtons!"

"Oh yeah?" Rainbow wasn't really listening at this point; she'd plopped down to start fiddling with her figments, trying to get them all to go together. "Well let's see here--"

Abruptly, and in a flurry of light and sound, they coalesced into a Pricklemane.

Rainbow at the Dream Eater stared at each other for a moment, before the Pricklemane jumped forward at her. Rainbow caught him reflexively. "Whoa there! What are you, little guy?"

[sailorlaughter]

"Ooooh! That's a Pricklemane!" Pinkie piped up helpfully. "They're cute little kitty cats covered in cute little pointy spikes!"

"That DOES seem to describe it!" Rainbow said, laughing as she set it down -- apparently none the worse for wear from said spikes. "So, let's see what you can do!"

The Pricklemane promptly stuck its tail in the ground, then launched itself outwards as a spinning ball of pointy doom. Rainbow's eyes practically shone.

[sailorlaughter]

"Whooooooo!" Pinkie hopped out of the way of the spinning pointy death ball. "He's like a WRECKING ball, that's so cool!"

"That was AWESOME!" Rainbow said reverently, as the Pricklemane stopped its furious spin and pulled its tail out of the ground. She swooped in to pick it up. "I'm gonna call you Rex!"

[sailorlaughter]

"Rex!" Pinkie bounced a circle around the two jubilantly. "Hey, hey, you should meet Toothy! He was my very first one! TOOTHY!"

She shouted this aloud, to no apparent response. "He'll be here soon. He kinda runs around!"

"You let your pet just run around?" Rainbow said, not really able to criticize as she tossed Rex up into the air. The Pricklemane turned a neat loop, then dropped back into her hooves again, seeming perfectly happy at this treatment.
