Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]

Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.
Where: Traverse Town
When: Throughout the day
Warnings: Depends on the characters. Expect language at least.

You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.

Good luck.

When Jeeves' own Komory Bat doesn't immediately attack the one hovering near the... woman, he makes the leap to a poor choice of painting. He's surprised Namine would have let someone color their Spirit in such a fashion, but perhaps the girl had not had a hand in this one. "Good day, madam," he offers her politely, tipping his hat. There has been a rash of new arrivals. This one seems to at least be conservatively dressed. Jeeves appreciates the color scheme though wearing something that makes her look like she has horns is a poor choice.

"My name is Jeeves. I take it the Moogles failed to explain the difficulty that may befall you should you keep your Spirit in such colors." He motions to his own brown Komory bat. "One can well appreciate a distaste for the standard color palette, but the one you've chosen does fall in line with the enemy."

Maleficent accepts the polite greeting as only her due, acknowledging him with a gracious nod. She regards the Komory Bat as though she has never seen it before. "The 'enemy', you say? Oh, my...No, the Moogles made no mention of this 'enemy'. What can you tell me of it?" If they have some power she could make use of...perhaps she will seek them out instead of this ragtag crowd.

"Very little, I regret, madam." He dips his head deferentially, taking note of the fact that she fails to introduce herself. "The over arching enemy is most elusive. The more immediate threat to which I refer, however, are the Nightmares.

"They are similar to our spirits, but come in an alternate color palette and will attack aggressively without provocation. Your Spirit should defend you, but individuals assisting you in battle may inadvertently attack your Spirit in the heat of battle if it resembles the Nightmares. I would not like to see you left defenseless."

If she is defenseless. Jeeves is not so sure with this woman. She appears regal, but dangerous, like a snake or falcon.

"Defenseless? Oh, yes, that would be troublesome." Maleficent allows herself an internal chuckle at the idea that the loss of this Spirit could render her defenseless. This Jeeves fellow clearly has no idea who she is. He will learn...though not just at the moment. "I shall have to see to it."

These Nightmares sound like pawns, at best. Perhaps she could control them, if it turns out to be worth the effort, but of far more interest is this vague controlling foe. She will have to see if she can find them.

She doesn't sound overtly sinister, but more dismissive. Having been a servant a majority of his life, such an attitude is one Jeeves is used to dealing with. "There is a young woman who paints Spirits, but perhaps you have already encountered her. She has a studio in the teashop in the 4th District should you require any assistance with painting. Or did you tend to it yourself in the first instance, if it is not too bold to ask, madam?"

"No, I'm afraid I haven't had the fortune to meet her. And I doubt I shall, save for the company. There!" Few faeries can resist the urge to show off, and Maleficent is not one of them: it's no difficulty, of course, to change her bat's color once more, this time to black, though she indulges in adding a rime of green like flames to its wings. (It does not seem in the least bothered.) "Is that more suitable, Mr. Jeeves?"

"Indeed, madam." He could do without the green, but at least her Spirit isn't likely to be mistaken for a Nightmare. Descartes takes an interest in his newly-colored brethren and flaps over to squeak a happy greeting. The other bat's person is so green! It's fantastic.

"If you require some direction, as well, you might wish to make for the hotel. I would be happy to lead you. It is a safe-haven and the base from which many of the dreamers here operate."

Medea's person is the best person, so naturally green is the best color! This strikes the bat as impeccable logic.

"Why, thank you. I'm sure your assistance would be invaluable." Not that Maleficent doesn't know perfectly well where the hotel is located, unless it has moved as dreams so often do. But she isn't inclined to waste the opportunity to acquire more intelligence. The hotel strikes her as a woefully inadequate base; unfortunately, she cannot think of a building in Traverse Town that truly meets her standards.

"You have been here for some time, then? You seem quite familiar with the residents of this place."
juniorganymedian: (will that be all?)

[personal profile] juniorganymedian 2014-04-13 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Descartes agrees with Medea's logic and cheers it for the brilliant deduction that it is. Jeeves tries his best to ignore the joyous squeaking.

"I have been present in the Realm of Dreams for a month, madam," the valet explained as he gestured forward and began to lead her toward the hotel. "My familiarity is less to do with my time here, though, than research efforts I have made. There are several dreamers who have been here a considerably longer time." He raised his arm and pulled back the sleeve of his mourning coat to show her his communicator.

"The communications devices have an archive function. Conversations held previous were most elucidating with regard to the present state of knowledge and the personalities of the dreamers here."

[personal profile] uninvitedguest 2014-04-26 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fascinating." Mechanisms have never been of particular use to her, but the ability to record prior conversations...well, it strikes her as somewhat reckless, to be honest, but she won't scruple to take advantage. "And this - device - enables one to speak to everyone at once, I presume? That could be very useful." She wonders how well spells transfer through it. Best to find out in private, before tipping her hand.
juniorganymedian: (getting worried here)

[personal profile] juniorganymedian 2014-04-27 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, madam. Not all may respond or view the recordings, but they shall be alerted to their presence." Personally, Jeeves reads and views everything. He doesn't always respond, of course. He would be drawn into far too many inane conversations if he did.

"Is there anything in particular you wish to communicate to the broader group at present? Agent Washington provided a valiant first attempt at communicating the situation as it stands to all new arrivals should you wish for additional clarity. Attached to that communication is also a map of the relatively safe zones of this world along with a dream eater guide prepared by Master Sora and Master Riku." A pause. "A different Master Riku than the one you may chance to encounter here at present. Or at least one from a different point in time."
