Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]

Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.
Where: Traverse Town
When: Throughout the day
Warnings: Depends on the characters. Expect language at least.

You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.

Good luck.

Ape? Souji blinked.

"Call me Soujirou, please. What things?" If the other man had never heard of a town... where was he from? New, that much was for sure.

He spread his hands, smiling brightly and as unthreateningly as he could. The man moved like a fighter, and a wary one at that. No sudden movements, then, not until Souji's convinced him to relax.

"A town is a place where many people live close together."

Soujirou. A rather foreign name if he had ever heard one. It was a little strange on his tongue, but doable. "Shikamoo, Soujirou. I am Simba." In a very formal greeting his arm raises, bent at the elbow and he lowers his head to only lift it quickly.

For a moment he waits for the returned gesture but, the name and beast being unknown, he guesses that perhaps a returned greeting shouldn't be expected. Not finding anything too threatening about the man, and interested in information his guard is let down, looking a little more relaxed as he gestures to the buildings. "These large trees...They have no branches. There is no life here...it's cold. How do you live?"
laughingsword: (oh well.)

It's a strange greeting, and Souji doesn't think he can do the hand gesture right after only seeing it once; instead, he returns a polite bow. Straightening back up, he tilts his head thoughtfully to the side.

"Simba. It's a pleasure to meet you! These are..." He hesitates, glancing at the other man again. Simba's dressed strangely, and then there's the headdress and tail... could he really never have seen a building before? What sort of world is he from?

He shakes his head. The idea of other worlds is still just too confusing. Dealing with the question he's been asked, though, that at least he can do.

"These aren't trees," he explains. "They're buildings -- they're made out of stone and wood, and we live inside them. Do you still have the money pouch the Moogle gave you?

The return of words is just the same, which makes him feel a little more comfortable. If anything creatures here seemed to at least know manners. And while he had promptly forgotten his for years, the vision of his father in the sky had given him a rather serious reminder that he was no commoner and respect was something you give to all if you expected to receive it yourself.

He is surprised though, to learn that these trees weren't in fact trees at all. They hadn't looked like any trees he had ever seen, but what else they could have been couldn't be thought up. He had no word for them. "They don't look like the stone and wood I know...they're rather ugly." Though the lights he admitted, were beautiful to look at, if not distracting.

Money was not something he had heard of before either and he thinks a moment as to what he might be referencing. He is a smart lion, even if over eager at times, so it comes to him quickly that perhaps it is the pack that he had hidden. "It is...safe. Do I need it?"

"It's nothing like my home, either!" Souji complains, making a face in solidarity. "The lights are so bright that they keep me up at night. But I suppose it's not a terrible place!"

Clasping his hands behind his back, he turns to look up at the buildings. The tension in his own shoulders is lessening as Simba relaxes, though he keeps an eye out for Nightmares.

"You can trade that money for food or weapons in the shops," he says, more and more curious about the other man's world.

"All we have is the light of the stars and the moon..." And the occasional fire in the plains, but he wouldn't wish that on anyone. "Is there any way to get away from the light?"

He thinks of his fathers ceremonial swords at home, left behind a pride rock, and he wonders if perhaps he might need something of the sort here. If his claws and teeth won't do...but, food was important. "Is there a water hole nearby? I don't need to trade for food if I can catch it myself..."
laughingsword: (fakest smile ever)

"There are ... wild animals here," Souji admitted, "but if you kill them, they turn into those blocks." He pulled one out of the small handful he'd stashed in his purse. "You can't eat them."
endlessnight: (eyes the size of the moon)

[personal profile] endlessnight 2014-04-04 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a pause. "Aren't they just...animals?" Why would you use a word like wild describing just...creatures as a whole? Wild as opposed to what, he wondered.

"And how does an animal turn into a...block." The word was strange to him, at least in the way it was being used and while he had his own that the moogle had gifted him, it was quite strange, to think that these things could create life. How could these lifeless things give any sort of spirit to anything? "I'm not sure I get it..."

Perhaps he needed another lesson by getting hit in the head to figure it out?
laughingsword: (hmmmm --)

[personal profile] laughingsword 2014-04-05 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I only wish I could help," Souji sighed, "but I don't understand anything about it, either! The red-eyed ones attack anyone they see, when you kill them they become blocks like this, and you can combine the blocks to create new ones that will fight by your side.

"It's all very confusing."
endlessnight: (Endless night)

[personal profile] endlessnight 2014-04-08 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Red eyes were a sign of an enemy...he would have to remember that. "Very confusing." He repeated, lifting his eyes to the sky. The mapping of the sky was a little different than he was used to, having looked up quite a lot in his years and it was a little disorienting.

"These creatures you make...can you teach me?"
laughingsword: (a boy and his pig)

[personal profile] laughingsword 2014-04-10 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Souji nodded to the Pricklemane lingering at his side. "Just put the blocks together. The right combination transforms."
endlessnight: (energy abounds)

[personal profile] endlessnight 2014-04-11 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't sound like any form of creation he had ever heard of...but, he supposes it doesn't hurt to try. He had never been steered wrong by monkeys before, so Souji at least had his trust. Enough so, that when he went to grab the hidden pack, he turned his back on him. The previous leaping movements of his steps were more muted, the excitement and confusion bleeding out into a calm loping step.

"Your creature looks like a..." How to put it? "A mane with eyes." A poorly kept one, but. A mane he saw. "Maybe I should ask it for tips to grow mine bigger," The grin was hidden with his turned back as he grabbed his bag from behind the strange bins. "Do you think He would share with me?"
laughingsword: (straight face critically fails)

[personal profile] laughingsword 2014-04-11 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"It does, doesn't it!" Souji breaks into laughter, reaching down to scoop Toshi into his arms. "But they don't speak, so it may be a little hard to understand any suggestions..."
