Dreaming Wide Awake [Fourth Wall/Open]

Who: Everyone! Current characters, fourth wall characters, whoever wants to show up.
What: The portals are closed. Everyone's in Traverse Town, including a whole bunch of new people. This should be interesting.

You didn't expect to be here. You really didn't. The technicolor buildings are a surprise, as is the little white flying bear telling you you're in the dream world. He gives you a bag full of what looks to be currency, enough shiny things to create a creature of your own (or so he says), and sends you on your way.

She can't just leave this minor moment of inconvenience unaddressed! Lynne runs over to this guy and kneels down, ready to help him up if that was a thing that needed to be done.

And besides, he might have seen the other people she was just with.

"Hey! Are you alright? Have you seen a little girl or a man made out of inanimate objects anywhere?"

By some stroke of luck, he isn't hurt. Ivan pushes himself up to a sitting position and rubs one of his knees a little.

And then there are two questions which Ivan isn't sure are connected, so it takes a moment for him to process what the redhead is saying. And even after that moment...

"Um... what?" The part about the little girl makes sense, but what's this about a man made of objects? "Do you mean like a robot?"

"I know what I said... although he's more of a ghost than a man..."

That might have been important information to disclose ahead of time.

"So... less like a robot and more of a jumble of things held together by a ghost?" It doesn't make much sense to him unless some power was involved, but he does live in a world where powers such as those can exist. Ivan stands, and the Komory Bat he had been chasing perches on top of his head. Now it stays put...

"I don't think I've seen him. I think I would have remembered something like that. I'm sorry, miss."

and sorry about the html error in that last one, only "ghost" should have been red...

"It's fine. I'm a lot more worried about KamilAHH!"

The sudden exclamation is a consequence of being bitten in the back of the head by her accidentally-created Hebby Repp.

No worries! It happens, and I know GT, so I could guess =)

"Are you okay?!" It's now Ivan's turn to worry, and the Komory Bat on his head takes flight. This person is in trouble! Help is needed!

Thankfully for the Hebby Repp, the most it's doing is bumping into it.

"Nah, I'm fine. I've had worse."

Well... she's had worse, but most of those worse-s got retconned.

The Hebby Repp just kinda swipes pathetically at Ivan's Komory Bat.

The Komory Bat flies out of range for the swipes. It can't reach it now. It has height advantage!

"H-Hey, please stop that. I don't think that one is one of the Nightmares..." Ivan tries to grab the bat from midair to keep it from attacking the poor Hebby Repp. "I, um. I'm glad."

"Nightmares? What's that supposed to mean?"

Guess who was so worried she missed the explanation.

"A guy in an armored suit said that there were different colored versions of these guys with red eyes. They're Nightmares, and they'll attack us. It's why we need Spirits to help fight them."

Of course, the bat also makes a very good hat, like what it's doing right now after Ivan tried to stop it from attacking the other Dream Spirit.

"He made more sense than the bear--Moogle."

"You mean that white thing? I guess it was acting like it was trying to tell me something. It looked kinda weird, but you'd be surprised what dying five times in one night makes you willing to believe."

"..." Pardon the silence, but Ivan and his bat stare in her direction wondering if they misheard what she said. She couldn't have said that she died five times in one night.

"...What?"

Yeeeeeah, no, he doesn't believe you.

"Um, are you a ghost?" Or some kind of spirit because there is no way Ivan can be talking to a live person who has died so many times in one night... Even dying once is too much as far as he's concerned.

"Nope! The only ghosts I know are Sissel, Missile, and Yomiel. Sissel saved me every time I died, though. He's probably still off saving Detective Jowd, though, so he's probably not here."

...come to think of it, Sissel didn't have a clue who he really was. Maybe Sissel wasn't male.

"I'm sorry... I don't think I understand. How can you have died but also be...?"

Hold on a moment! Ivan does have an explanation for this that does make sense. Who could have the power to resurrect people or animate the dead? Of course!

"Are they kami?" Someone's love of Japanese culture may be peeking through.

"I don't know. I've never heard of a kami before."

Given that their powers come from a radioactive meteorite, give up on it making sense. Just... give up now.
