Well. This certainly wasn’t what you were expecting.

This part of the town is lit with street lamps and shop signs, illuminating the wooden structures and cobblestone streets. If it weren’t for the neon signs, you’d swear you’d landed in a small European town several centuries back.

The Moogle floating near the staircase leading up to the town’s item shop doesn’t help that illusion either. You may have already spoken with it; it’ll tell you where you are and that you’re in the realm of dreams, give you your starter package, and help you make your first Dream Eater. It will not, however, tell you how to get home. Sorry, but that’s not information it has, kupo.

Now that you’ve taken care of that, what will you do next? That is up to you.

Okay, Wash had to give him that - he had stopped for the catdog, though if he'd been in a hurry he would have just vaulted right over the thing and that would have been that. "If you'd intended to make an obstacle, I'd hope you'd use something a little better than Fluffy here."

Meanwhile, the bat was happy as anything to have found a new friend. Maybe they should play!

"I would, don't worry." It was going to be tiring, going through constant introductions, but they were really quite necessary. "My name is Ienzo and the creature is..." Ienzo paused. He hadn't really given thought to a name. It certainly was the most bouncy and aimless creature he'd ever seen, so it deserved a name to match. "...Lea."

The newly-christened Lea turned around in a circle and bounced a couple times. Playing would be great.

Introductions. Great. How the hell had he not considered these? It was one thing just to give his name; it was another to give his name when he was supposed to be dead. If anyone who'd been looking for him showed up-

They'd find him eventually. This wasn't Valhalla; he couldn't hide forever. "I'm Wash," he finally replied. "The bat doesn't have a name." Yet. Or Ever. Wash still wasn't too keen on the partner idea.

Yessss new playmates wereawesome. Should they play hide and seek or tag?

"It's nice to meet you, Wash. It's a pity that it has to be under such strange circumstances, but this world is certainly interesting." Ienzo already had a few ideas, though they would necessarily depend on how permanent their stay appeared to be. "I wonder if it's us or the world that's dreaming."

Lea was absolutely ready for some hide and seek, and darted behind the crate.

"Yeah, 'interesting' is one way to put it." Completely ridiculous was another, but it seemed like Ienzo was the polite type.

Wait, what? "You think this place is dreaming us," Wash replied slowly. It was all he could do to choke back a short, bitter laugh. Well, that would sure explain why a good part of his life was a fucking nightmare. "I didn't think planets could dream," he replied instead.

The bat turned around and closed its eyes, squeaking evenly, obviously counting. When it hit ten, it turned around again and skimmed low to the ground, looking for Lea. It didn't take long to find him behind the crate - he hadn't gone far, after all. Oh, come on, that was too easy!

"I think it's a possibility, though an unlikely one." Ienzo paused; it wouldn't hurt to be thought of as helpful and informative. "Every world, or planet, has a heart, just as every person does. This doesn't refer to the physical heart. In this case, the heart is the metaphysical seat of existence and emotion for every world and every person. It houses all memories, and the sum of those memories is what makes a world or person what they are. In other words, you are the sum of your memories and experiences. Worlds aren't sentient exactly, but they can die or become corrupted; it would make sense that they can dream."

It was a good thing Wash had his helmet on; hopefully, Ienzo couldn't tell he was staring behind the visor. Because really, with that sort of explanation, it was about all he could do. He wasn't thinking of Ienzo in terms of helpful and informative so much as he was thinking in terms of completely batshit insane.

"Thank you," he finally managed after a rather long silence. "I think I'll file that away and reference it again...never." He had weird dreams, and he had terrifying dreams, but this was something completely different. He'd already been down one road to madness; he didn't feel like taking this one too, thanks. "I'm...going to go get the rest of this place mapped out. See you around."

Ienzo nodded. It was probably totally outside this man's experience; he'd learn well enough as time went on. "Of course. Be well."
