Well. This certainly wasn’t what you were expecting.

This part of the town is lit with street lamps and shop signs, illuminating the wooden structures and cobblestone streets. If it weren’t for the neon signs, you’d swear you’d landed in a small European town several centuries back.

The Moogle floating near the staircase leading up to the town’s item shop doesn’t help that illusion either. You may have already spoken with it; it’ll tell you where you are and that you’re in the realm of dreams, give you your starter package, and help you make your first Dream Eater. It will not, however, tell you how to get home. Sorry, but that’s not information it has, kupo.

Now that you’ve taken care of that, what will you do next? That is up to you.

"I am well and whole now, thank you," Ienzo said. "I would of course prefer to be home than here, but perhaps this will be a learning experience."

"Yes," Even said absently. "Yes, quite." He was oddly quiet, for him. It was a great deal to process, perhaps too much at once.

His Pricklemane certainly seemed to think he was being too quiet, or possibly just sitting still for too long. With a mighty leap, it landed on his lap squeaking for attention.

"What - get down from there!" His attempts to dislodge it, however, were somewhat perfunctory.

"You hadn't quite recovered, at the point when I fell asleep," Ienzo said after a moment. "If you think it would be helpful to talk about how you died, I'm willing to listen." Aeleus would listen. Aeleus would probably have insisted on their sitting down and deprocessing, sooner or later. He would think badly of Ienzo if Ienzo didn't do the same.

Ienzo smiled faintly at the sight of Even with his dream eater and reached down to pat Lea on the head.

How he died? Everything hurts trying to find the right words listen to me listen damn you not enough left to fight he wasn't made for this no nononono what are you saying stop stop stop stop smiling not real fear but it felt real felt more than real no nonononono I don't want to die -

His Spirit squeaked demandingly and he was in the present again.

"I think," Even said carefully, still not entirely confident that he was looking at Ienzo rather than Axel, "that that would not be helpful at this time." Or ever.

Ienzo nodded. "Alright. What are your plans, then, for all of this?" He waved a hand to indicate the world around them and the realm of sleep in general. Clearly Even wouldn't benefit from discussion, so he wouldn't have to touch on that again.

Not touching on that again seemed like an excellent plan to Even as well. "We never did properly establish how Traverse Town functions. And this Realm of Dreams is entirely new. It presents...possibilities." Possibilities including how to wake up, now that he knew there was a reason to try.

"I suspect that learning about this place will take second place to establishing ourselves with a source of income and a place to live," Ienzo said. "Do you have plans for that?"
defrostedpride: (let me talk at you now)

[personal profile] defrostedpride 2012-10-11 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Inasmuch as Even had only just accepted that he was living at all, he did not. Not that he was going to tell Ienzo so. He contemplated the apparent prospect inherent in Traverse Town, and sighed. "I hate making potions. It's incredibly dull."

"I'm sure you'll find something to occupy you that doesn't bore you terribly," Ienzo said. He wasn't actually sure of that, but Even would surely find some way to make do.

"Hmph," said Even eloquently. He wasn't at all sure of that himself. He wanted to wake up.

However, if there was one thing they all had practice in, it was starting over from nothing. He had done it once; he could do it again.

But he didn't have to like it. "And you? Do you have your dream life all planned out already, complete with timelines and diagrams?"

"I'm taking thought of the matter," Ienzo said placidly. There was really no rush; the funds they'd gotten were sufficient. He didn't plan to become a monster-hunter, even though that did appear to be a good source of funding. The world had ample opportunity for networking and finding a niche, and he intended to use it.
defrostedpride: (it's not my fault you're dumb)

[personal profile] defrostedpride 2012-10-11 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmph," Even said again with a slightly different intonation, one that in this case meant, 'If you don't have a plan yet, then why are you expecting me to?'

He knew what he wanted to do, if he had to kill time until they woke up. With the resources currently at his disposal, it wasn't possible, but it might serve as something to work toward.

Even looked around at the buildings of Traverse Town. "I wonder if any of them could ever be acceptably sterile," he thought aloud.

"For what in particular?" Ienzo asked. He wasn't personally interested in experiments at this point, but it was good to keep abreast of what Even was doing.
defrostedpride: (it's only mildly eccentric science I swe)

"The obvious beginning is to discover how these Dream Eaters function. Analysis of the dream pieces they were made from, laboratory observation of the creative process, examining the internal anatomy of the Nightmares, and so on. Extracting data on this realm itself would be more involved, of course, but information must be obtainable." He scowled at the wood and brick houses opposite. "If such a thing as an adequate facility could be found or made here."
