Who: North, Theta, and whoever joins them
What: North practices magic, Theta practices with a slingshot
Where: Ponyville, probably near the Far
When: Afternoon ish? After the lessons with the princesses
Warnings: General Freelancer warning.
While the lessons with the Princesses had gone well, North still felt under prepared. The basics were one thing, but fighting nightmares was another and he was going to need a lot more practice before he could even think about taking them on. His spirits were determined, but North didn't want to rely on them for everything.
He'd set up a few crude targets around the Apple family farm, and collected a few rocks as well, the goal being to turn them into projectiles, and see how effective they were before he started playing around with the slingshot. It wasn't the most effective weapon, but hopefully, it would work. He did better with distance anyway.
Theta stood nearby with his own target and rocks, trying to get the slingshot to work. He was having trouble retaining the tension of the elastic with his little arms. But he was getting better.

"You think we'll find a world where that happens?"
He wouldn't lie, he'd kind of like to see that.

"Seems only fair." She gave a shrug beneath her armor. "And if not, then it'll be a world where all of us have no choice but to change. Means they suffer right along with the rest of us."
Not that she'd suffered, exactly. Carolina had definitely enjoyed being a pony far more than she'd admit - though wings might have made the experience better.

When it comes to pony magic, asking Luna is pretty much a given in North's book.
"Thanks for giving Theta some help. I got a little caught up in everything else..."

"No problem. He just needed a nudge. I think You'll be able to handle the rest just fine, though."

North wasn't stumbling over his feet as much as he used to be, so he counted that as a success.
"Probably. I think he wants to figure out most of it for himself though."

She looked over towards the AI-Dragon, before shaking her head slightly. "I can appreciate that," she said quietly, before offering a smirk. "I don't think Delta enjoys being a dragon."

North isn't quite sure how he feels about Theta being away from him, but at least it's only a temporary arrangement.

She pawed the earth a moment with one of her hooves, before casually asking what she knew could be an invasive question. At least if he refused to answer, she wouldn't take it personally. ...Probably. "How does it feel for you, not having him in your head here?"
no subject
"It's...quiet. I really notice that he's not there, and it kind of gets to me sometimes. Thankfully Theta doesn't go far. If I lost him I don't know what I'd do."
Thankfully the separation is a temporary one. They certainly don't spend more than half a day in ponyville because of it.

Not without damage to York, at least. "But if you lost him, we'd all help you find him again," she admonished, careful to keep her tone light. The two weren't alone here, after all.

He lets out a small laugh.
"I would hope so. Not that that's something I want to face."
no subject
"I can't blame you there," she said instead, then looked back towards the little dragon, trying to gauge his progress. Or perhaps just how tired he was.
no subject
"I'm fine," he said, when he noticed the two were looking at him.

Then rolled onto her paws, rubbing her face against North's chin before she joined Carolina and leapt up onto her back. "We'll see you later."

Theta waved as they left, using the arm that wasn't as tired.
