Characters:Sora, Roxas and Xion
Content: Cooking Lessons
Location: The kitchen at the Dalmatians' House
Time of Day: Lunch time-ish, the day before the pony magic lessons
Warnings: Fluff and adorable?

Sora didn't see any reason why cooking lessons would be a bad thing. It was good to be able to cook for yourself and for someone else if you chose. Generally, it was kind of awesome to be able to make tasty food, even if it was actually pretty easy once learned. So he was kind of looking forward to this, because it was nice to be able to help someone else learn too.

But lessons were no fun if you started with something too complicated. Soup was nice and easy and it could also be nice and filling, depending on what kind of soup it was. So Sora had picked up the things to make a nice vegetable soup.

When they got there, Roxas and Xion would find him making sure that all the kitchen items they needed were clean and set out on the counter. He was also singing softly. Something about life in the sea being better.

Sora had learned his lesson from the baking lessons with Namine. Toxy and the still unnamed Escarglow were hanging around the door to the kitchen. These two were his mellowest and so far also his most obedient Spirits, so when he'd asked them to stay out of the kitchen they hadn't objected, though they were still curious as to what their person was up to.

Cooking wasn't something there'd been much time for in the Organization. Missions could take a long time, and a lot of the others seemed to relax the "don't be seen" rule when it came to finding food from a street vendor to eat on the go or bring back home. Xion hadn't had much chance to learn to cook, and her few attempts hadn't turned out well.

Learning sounded like it might be fun, though. Well, learning with her best friend and having her Original teach her sounded like it might be fun. So when Sora had offered, she'd accepted.

Most of Xion's Spirits were fairly well behaved. Today she'd let Barkley and Speedy team up. They hadn't gotten to work together much, and they were some of the more easygoing of her Spirits.

After a short stop to say hello to Sora's Escarglow (Speedy was so happy to see another of her kind) and Toxy, Xion smiled at him. "Hi, Sora. Thanks for having me over."

The cooking lessons had slipped his mind.

In between the nightmares and the not sleeping, Roxas hadn't really paid much attention to what was going around him. It also probably didn't help that he had just woken up from a nap and was wandering into the kitchen for...well, reasons he hadn't decided on yet.

"Xion? What's going on?" he said, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

[ooc: For future reference, I'd appreciate a head's up when logs like these are going up. This just kinda caught me off guard.]

Sora's information was correct: Xion was staying with Even. Had Sora asked, she could have said that Even definitely would not like someone else giving cooking lessons in his kitchen. He wasn't much of one for visitors, after all. As it was, Sora's thought had been correct, so they'd been spared that conversation.

It looked like all that had been going on had driven any thought of the lesson from Roxas's mind. Xion herself probably should have reminded him; it wasn't as if they didn't see each other often. At least Roxas was at home.

"I'm sorry, too."

Roxas stared blankly for a moment before the memory caught up with him. That had been a while ago.

"What...no, it's fine. I just, didn't know that was today," Roxas replied. "We hadn't talked about it for a while, so I didn't think it was happening."

He shook his head, trying to wake up.

Dwelling on things didn't seem to help matters much. Not that knowing that prevented Xion from occasionally doing so, but this wasn't one of the times she did. They'd just have to be more careful later, is all.

Xion nodded her agreement with Sora. "Yeah, whenever you're ready."

"Alright. What are we cooking anyway?"

Might as well go along. Sora had set everything up already, and Roxas guessed it could be fun.

"Soup sounds good." Xion wandered over to the counter to look at all the ingredients. She might not be a picky eater, but she was still curious about what was went into her food. Lots of different things, apparently, but Sora had said this would be easy...Though easy or not, having friends to work with would make it more fun than if she was cooking alone.

Barkley came over to investigate, too. With a slight whuff, he got up on his hind legs and put his front paws against the counter, trying to see over. Xion tapped him lightly on the nose. "No, this isn't for you. Down."

Whining slightly and looking disappointed, Barkley did as he was told and backed off. At least if he was good now, he might get treats later.

Soup worked. It was weird to think that the food on the table was going to become soup. Soup was just soup as far as Roxas was concerned.

"What do you do first?" He asked, looking at some the vegetables.

Xion nodded and picked up some vegetables to help wash them. Being used to learning by doing, it wouldn't have occurred to her to just watch while Sora did all the work. Better to practice now, when she had help, than later.

That said, the vegetables didn't look that dirty. "They don't clean them at the store?"

Of course it was only after she'd asked that she remembered a long-ago lecture on germs...Oh, well.

Roxas picked up a potato, eying with suspicion. If he had to admit it, he was not exactly fond of vegetables.

"Are we all going to fit around the sink?" He'd help out where he could but he didn't want to crowd anyone.

Xion nodded at Sora's explanation. It made sense that sometimes the people selling the vegetables couldn't always clean them. At least washing veggies would be easy to do. "So this is just to be sure, right?"

It wasn't a bad idea. Especially if there were pesticides--Xion wouldn't have liked the idea of those if she'd heard about them.

Not that she would have had much time for thinking about that if Sora had mentioned them. If Roxas was going to stand at the sink, she'd have to move. "We can take turns."

Roxas shrugged, moving to the sink and turning it on to get started. Washing vegetables seemed easy enough.

"Do we really need to practice though?" he asked. Chopping vegetables seemed a skill worth practicing.
