Stitch By Stitch [Open]
Who: Rarity and you!
What: Rarity is hard at work in her boutique. Please, come bother her - she loves bringing in new customers.
Where: The Carousel Boutique, Fourth District, Traverse Town
When: Afternoon
Warnings: None so far. Rarity will not be pleased with anypony who does anything that requires this thread to have a warning.
She'd heard quite a bit about what had happened aboard the newest world - the Mother of Invention, she'd heard it called. After hearing there was an invisible something attacking people out of the blue, and after Emile came home horribly injured, Rarity had simply sworn off going there. She would go if somepony needed her, of course - that was what friends were for, after all - but she'd keep the tourism to a minimum.
So she'd said hello to Steven and picked up a variety of fabrics and a few new accents that she didn't normally use but couldn't wait to test out, and she got to work. It wouldn't do to stay idle, after all - not when she still needed practice designing for people.

Well, things had changed, hadn't they. "Hello, Rarity," she nodded politely, and Dax squeaked happily from her shoulder, still aqua blue himself and tipping the hat that the unicorn had made for him politely. "I'm fine. How've you been keeping?"
Lela skipped forwards immediately with an eager mew of greeting. This wasn't a personPerson but a PonyPerson! She hadn't met too many of those yet, but this one was incredibly pretty!

Spike bounced down the hall at the familiar voices, squeaking a gleeful hello at Dax and stopping short when he caught sight of Lela. Wow, he ventured, you're pretty!"
no subject
Lela mewed happily at the attention, her tail swinging from side to side, and there was the faintest huff from Carolina that might have been suppressed laughter. It was also obscured by her effort to remove her helmet. "She's a frootz cat. I got her at the party a little while back." She looked far more wane than the first time she'd met the unicorn, but that didn't seem to have slowed the human down any.
Green eyes narrowed slightly, before glancing from beneath lowered lashes at Rarity. "Thank you, by the way." For the dress, of course. It was very nice.
There was a twitch of whiskers and Lela's nose crinkled in delight at the compliment from Spike, before she waggled her tail at him. Thank you! Your PonyPerson is very pretty too! All the things in this shop are pretty! Especially her person, who's armor is a very pretty colour, in Lela's opinion. Dax simply snorted.

"Oh! Did she come from the Moogle game, then?" Rarity hadn't ever gotten around to playing that. Perhaps she should when the next party rolled around. (There would be a next party, so long as Pinkie Pie was in the city.) "And you're very welcome. Did it wear alright?" She was certain it had, but it was always good to get feedback on fit from an unfamiliar client - they did need to be comfortable, after all.
She noticed very quickly that her guest wasn't looking quite as hale as she had been when Rarity had last seen her. "Carolina, dear, can I make you some tea? Or coffee?"
Ohhhhh she was even prettier when she smiled! Spike rocked back and forth from paw to paw. Yeah, his person makes some really great stuff. Like this! He gestured to his bright green bow tie with his tail. Isn't it cool?

"I'm fine, thank you." The response was so automatic, it was easily clear that Rarity had likely not been the first to make such an offer. But Carolina had suffered worse than lack of sleep before. This too would pass, and she refused to allow it to bother her. As for the dress: "It was...comfortable." Carolina paused, taking a moment to find appropriate words. "It's been a long time since I had something so nice, never mind an excuse to wear it."
Lela nodded in answer to the query about the moogle game. That was indeed where the pieces that made her were from, but she was Carolina's now, and that suited her just fine. It suits you! the pink feline complimented Spike, before looking up at Dax, who was following the other spirits' conversation with interest. Would I look nice with a bow?
Only if it matches our Person's colours, he replied, with a tip of his aqua coloured hat.

"Oh, you never need an excuse to dress up nicely, you know," Rarity told her. "Wear what you like. It's an expression of you, not of anypony else." Fashion had very few unchangeable rules; that was one of them.
You'd look great with a bow! Spike was certainly eager to please today. He bounced over to the display area that held Spirit clothes. See, my person made a bunch of them here! You should try one on!

She gestured slightly to her armor with one hand. "I need something for working out in." Just because she's lived in this suit for much of the past few years didn't mean she had to keep doing so here. The smile twitched at the corners. "The moogles' idea of suitable clothing doesn't work for me."
Dax looked from Lela to Spike, then back again, and his tail flicked about Carolina's shoulders. Their Person didn't appear to notice; it hadn't been a deliberate play for her attentions, after all. The Frootz Cat twirled around immediately when Spike mentioned the spirit line of clothing, and she trotted over eagerly to see what was on display. I don't think I would like a hat, but a ribbon might be nice.
Hopefully Melody would approve of the ribbon, too!

However, if workout clothes were what the occasion called for, she could certainly do that too. "Let me guess: too many belts." She paused for a moment to let that one sink in before addressing the business at hoof. "Of course I can make you workout clothes. What would you like? T-shirt, tank top, pants, shorts, leotard, legging - I can do just about anything."
He can get Lela a ribbon! Spike wiggled a bit in preparation, then bounced up onto one shelf and then another, aiming for the ribbons. He hadn't quite timed his second bounce correctly, though, and he teetered on the edge of the second shelf before tumbling off, landing on the floor with a loud squeak, a teal ribbon caught in his teeth. Look, he got Lela a ribbon! That's what you wanted, right?

Rarity could likely tell that this is not a woman accustomed to having or wanting nice things like that as it was. Not anymore, at least. Gloved hand smoothed back her bangs, tucking those to the right of her face back behind her ear. "T-shirts and tank tops would be excellent, as would sweatpants and shorts." Carolina paused, then wrinkled her nose slightly. "No leotard, thanks. This armor's undersuit is second skin enough, I don't need a second piece of clothing attempting to duplicate the effect."
There was a meow! of concern when Spike fell down, and Lela was immediately beside him, head and strawberry-topped ears tilted in concern. Are you okay? That was a big fall! Then she brightened immediately at the offered item. Yes, yes! ..Um, how do I wear it? Round her neck, or on her head? She looked from Spike to Rarity in worry. She's new to this fashion thing, after all.
no subject
"And what's this?" She magicked the ribbon out of Spike's teeth, noticed the color, and put things together very quickly. Rarity turned back to Carolina with a knowing smile, magicking the ribbon over to her. "I apologize for the interruption. I think your cat may have wanted something special too."
no subject
Lela looked relieved that Spike was okay, and equally pleased to see Rarity cared so much. No wonder her Person liked the pony! There was an eager mew as the ribbon floated away overhead, and she immediately trotted after it.
"That's fine. I'm sorry for her being the cause of it." The mew that followed that was immediately contrite, but Carolina softened the words with a faint smile as she accepted the offered item. She was getting used to magic. Slowly. Bit by bit. A bow..? Well, it was better than painting her teal - she was too used to her being pink now to want to change that.
A gloved finger rubbed against the ribbon's fabric absently. "How much in total? Including this."
no subject
"It's quite alright. No harm done." Spike was much more resilient than he seemed, and he was already up and about, if a bit miffed.
The question of price was an odd one when currency was different from what Rarity was used to back home. "Hmmm, let's see. That's four new pieces, possibly six, new materials and zippers and such from the Moogles, and the ribbon..." May as well go for something a bit different this time around. "You know, I do need another Spirit. Spike and I simply aren't big enough to handle the bears, and while Emile is willing to help, I can't ask him to be my escort every time I need to leave the boutique. n exchange for the workout clothes and the ribbon, how about you bring me enough dream pieces for one of the larger Spirits - something big enough to handle the bears? You can choose which one - I trust your judgment."

Lela purred happily at Spike, glad to see all was well, and she gently patted at him with a free paw before returning to her person's side. Carolina listened as Rarity went over her 'shopping list', the Freelancer tilting her head to one side; enough pieces for a larger spirit, in exchange for clothing?
"That sounds like a fair deal to me." Munny wasn't difficult to obtain, either, but with more worlds opening, having additional protection was wise. "I'll ask Steven which ones are available right now." They'd know what pieces would be needed, after all, and Sora's little directory of the dream eaters would help as well. She offered the unicorn a half-smile. "I don't think you'll be wanting a Thunderaffe in here."
She knew the problems Trouble had caused North, after all.
