While there was no denying that the party had been quite enjoyable, the time for partying was over. There were other things that needed to be seen to now, and Aqua had every intention of making good on her promise to train Lea. So it was that she arrived at the second district bright and early. Whether or not Lea was up yet was another question, but if not, she could wait. There wasn't all that much of a hurry, after all.

Lea had gotten the rise part down during his time in the organization, but he refused to shine unless absolutely necessary. Meeting with Aqua was something he needed to do to get up to speed on keyblade mastery, which made it worth hauling himself out of bed. He was pretty sure, anyway. He yawned hugely and waved at her. "Good morning."

Fortunately, it wasn't necessary in the least for Lea to shine. Being up was more than enough, in this case. This was, after all, their first meeting and Aqua had no idea of what Lea was actually capable of. All she knew for certain was that he had a Keyblade, and that wasn't much to go on.

"Good morning to you too. Before we get started, I'm going to need to know how much you already know."

"I know...how to call it. I'm okay with hitting at things, but the weapon I'm used to is really more for throwing and doesn't have the reach when you're just holding it," Lea said. "I can open stuff with it...I think. It mostly seems to do that on its own."

"There are some techniques that involve throwing a Keybade," Aqua answered, with a slight nod. "Ven would know more about them than I do, though. Besides we should make sure you know how to use it normally too, so that's where we'll start."

There wasn't any sense leaving Lea's eduction lacking, after all. He wasn't always going to be able to solve his problems by throwing his keyblade at them. Besides, knowing how to effectively wield was an important part of being a keyblade wielder. That it was easy enough to master didn't hurt either.

Lea nodded. "I want to learn how to use it the right way. I know Sora and Riku did okay with being mostly self-taught, but with anything like that, you miss a lot of the tips and tricks that people have figured out over a long period of time."

Relying on the experience of others was always the best when you were learning how to control weapons or abilities. Lea was fine with jumping into things without a real plan, but plans were always better if you could get them.

"You do," Aqua agreed with a nod. What she knew might not be the most useful, but she could at least point out who he might want to talk to once he had something approximating a better handle on his blade. "Those will have to wait, though. Right now, I want you to try to hit me."

She was generally unlikely to be in any serious danger, given what he'd said about his familiarity with the Keyblade and it would help her know roughly where to start as far as actual teaching went.

"Okay." Lea didn't try to hide his surprise, but then, Aqua wouldn't be able to tell what he needed to learn without seeing what he could do. He called his keyblade in and lunged at her in one motion, swinging at Aqua's midsection.

Well, he at least had the swinging part down, Aqua noted as she called up her own Keyblade and neatly blocked the blow. The rest of things might need a bit more work - especially if he was used to weapons that were meant to be thrown - but it was a start and that was more than could be said for everyone who was as new to the Keyblade as Lea.

"Again, if you don't mind?"

Lea nodded and took another swing, this time at her head. It left him open, but if she flinched - which she might or might not - he could press forward. He'd have to remember he only had the one weapon from here on out.

It wasn't the first time Aqua has had things coming at her head, and it's quite unlikely to be the last either. As such, she didn't flinch in the slightest at the swing. Instead she simply brought her blade up once again to block the blow. It's perhaps a little harder this time, largely due to her having not expected him to swing for her head, but either way, she manages it.

"Good. I won't say you don't still need work, but it's a good start."

Lea pulled back. "Thanks. It's nice to hear that." Maybe if he'd still been back there he'd have been training with Riku and Kairi. It was too bad they weren't here, except, well, he wouldn't have wished the dreams on either of them. Riku's would have been really bad.

Aqua nods at the comment, although she doesn't answer it. There doesn't seem to be any reason to answer it, much less any answer that she can think to give, although she can certainly understand how it would be good to hear. But being able to swing a keyblade wasn't the same as training. It wasn't even necessarily enough to make someone good at what they did.

"That's not all, though."

She doesn't tell him what she's thinking. She simply swings her Keyblade at him - if he doesn't block she'll pull enough of the blow to make it only sting a little bit.

Lea pulled his keyblade up to block in time and backed off quickly. So hopefully they'd start into actual training soon; drills were a pain, but that's what they were for. Of course, that's what sparring was for too.

They might have been a pain, but just at the moment they were what was necessary. The skills to become a master had to come from somewhere, after all, and learning the full range of one's capabilities was part of that.

Not that Aqua was going to content herself with the single blow. That Lea had been able to block once was good, but once did not a pattern make and it wasn't long at all before she was swinging again.

Lea was pretty good at blocking; it took a bit before Aqua got through his defenses. He winced; hopefully she'd pull the blow. He was breathing a bit hard; this was really different from what he was used to, but it was also a pretty fun weapon to work with.

And pull it she did, although she left enough of the force behind the blow to make it smart a little. She may be pulling things now, but she's not always going to be doing so and his enemies almost certainly won't be.

So it's better that she leave him with at least some reminder of the the blow that's been. Still, once the blow does finally land she stops swinging. She's done enough for now and they can move on to actually sparring later.

Lea rubbed where Aqua had scored a hit. "Thanks." For pulling it. She was really pretty amazing. He wouldn't last long in a real fight with her, probably. He shook his head. "I'm so glad I'm learning from you."

She's had long years to get as good as she is, and far too many years spent more or less in permanent combat situations. But these are things that Lea doesn't need to know and so Aqua doesn't bother to share them.

"You shouldn't thank me just yet. We're only just getting started."

"I can thank you for pulling that one, right? You won't always be," Lea said reasonably. Not that training in the organization had been a picnic either. Inasmuch as they actually had training.

"I won't be," Aqua confirmed with a nod. "But not until you've had more practice with the Keyblade."

It was, of course, a shame that there weren't any other relatively new Keyblade wielders that she could set Lea to fighting, but perhaps the Nightmares would be able to help pick up some of the slack in that department.

"I'm up for whatever I need to do," Lea said. Slow and steady wins the race. Or, you know, being somebody's nobody who knows how to use the keyblade. Or figuring it out as you go. Training was better, though.

"That's good," Aqua answered with a nod. "It's not always going to be easy."

It might also not be harder than Aqua thinks Lea will be able to deal with, but that just means that it won't ever get absolutely ridiculous. She'll push him, yes, but there's no way that he'll manage to be a fully-fledged master by the time they leave the Realm of Dreams so there's no sense pushing for that.

Being a master is a good goal, but of course it's going to take a lot of training. The only reason that the timetable's getting pushed so hard where Lea comes from is that they've hit a wall and are just plain out of time. Learning anything in the time he has will help.

"Nothing that's worth it is."

With any luck, someone will manage to find Aqua in the realm of darkness. She doesn't have a whole lot of hope left on that front, but she knows that people are making a push to defeat Xehanort for good and she knows that not everyone who once knew her has been lost to their various fates.

But that's a thought for another time, and so she nods at Lea's words.

"That's true."
