Characters: Anyone who wanted to go explore the mansion

There have been rumors of it being haunted. There have been suggestions that what's inside might not be what people remember. Which is correct?

No one can say for sure, and the mansion certainly isn't about talk. The only answer to questions is waiting inside.

So come, step in through the crack in the wall. Explore the forest and what lies beyond. The answers have to be there somewhere after all.]

"My thoughts exactly." Gray said with a grin. It was good to see he wasn't the only one who thought it could be fun. "You think it's haunted?"

Satisfied that she seemed fine with teaming up, Gray started back towards the mansion. "I'm Gray, by the way. Have you fought any of those Nightmares?" It seemed like some people did and some didn't, he was just curious to know if she had information she could tell him. He did get that guide to the creatures, but he had only skimmed through it.

"Haunted? Maybe not. But, I am not one to believe those things." She walked beside him, watching the forest as they passed through. This place was weird... well, the entire thing was weird.

"My name is Ziva. As for the Nightmares, I have fought plenty of them so far. You have not?"

"Anything seems possible here." Gray said, mostly because that was the truth and because he wouldn't be surprised if there were ghosts there.

"Nice to meet you." Gray stated politely, impressed when she mentioned that she had fought a lot of them so far. "Yeah? Are they as tough as people say?" It seemed like everyone was cautious about tangling with them, which was understandable, but also made Gray eager to fight them. At her question, he shook his head. "I arrived here not too long ago. I'm not even sure how to use this little guy." He said, prodding at the Pricklemane perched on his shoulder.

"True." She said, although with a shrug. She didn't believe in ghosts, it went against her nature, in a way. Haunted houses were tricks of light and people in costumes. But, she had a feeling there would be plenty of Nightmares to fight in there anyway.

"It depends, really. On which type, and if you are used to fighting them, I guess." She watched as Fluffy flew over to squeak a greeting at the Pricklemane, always up for making new friends. "As for the spirits, just let them help you fight. They take direction pretty well, and they know what they are doing."

"That's pretty useful. A helper who already knows how to fight." Gray stated fondly, watching in amusement as his Pricklemane seemed eager to make a new friend as well, almost falling off of his shoulder with its enthusiastic greeting.

"You must be pretty good, to have more than one."

"And you will see, they are the best allies against some of these Nightmares." As if on cue, a group of the creatures appeared. It figured, they couldn't get the the building ahead without running into at least some of them. "Apparently, sooner rather than later."

She pulled her gun as her two spirits ran ahead of her. "As for having two? If you gather enough fragments the Nightmares leave behind, you can create more." She motioned towards the group ahead. "Shall we?"

Gray grinned as a group of Nightmares appeared. He had always preferred hands on learning as compared to lectures, and he was eager to see what these Spirits could do. His Pricklemane sprang off his shoulder, just as eager as he was to fight. "Let's go!"

Quickly he got into his stance, slamming the flat of his fist against his palm. "Ice make lance!" Multiple curved lances shaped like ice sprouted forward, speeding forward to hit their enemies.

Ziva stopped running towards the battle to watch as Gray seemed to summon the ice, then as it went flying forward. She still wasn't used to magic, even though she knew it existed, and knew plenty of people here used it. It still unnerved her a little to see it used.

She took off again, stopping a bit later to fire her gun at a couple of Nightmares that were distracted by her spirits. At least it was a smaller group this time around.

Gray could see what Ziva meant about the Spirits being pretty useful, since they seemed to serve as a good distraction and seemed to have some combat savvy. It was odd to see someone using a gun that didn't seem to be powered by magic, but the weapon seemed effective all the same.

After the Nightmares were defeated, Gray glanced over at Ziva. "That wasn't too bad. You think the ones in the mansion will be worse?"

She holstered her weapon, heading for the entryway of the mansion. "I do not know. I am hoping they are the same as out here. If only because I do not want to be surprised." Granted, she was prepared, carrying potions to make sure she and her spirits came out alive.

"Shall we?" She pressed her hand against the door, ready to walk in, but waiting for her current companion.

"A little surprise can be fun every once in a while." Gray said with a grin, though he supposed he should leave the recklessness to people who knew what to expect from these Nightmares. Just because the other ones had been pushovers didn't mean there weren't tougher ones.

"I'm ready if you are." Gray said, nodding to her as he opened the door, peering in cautiously. "I don't think anyone has been here for a while." He said, entering. The dust was thick enough to choke on, and there was debris everywhere. "You think we're the first ones here?"

"Once in a while, but when it becomes normal...then you have an issue." And the Nightmares were becoming normal. She nodded at him, regarding being ready, gun in hand as she peered in also, before walking in behind him.

"Probably not. I know there was interest in coming and exploring this place. We are probably not that far behind them." She examined the room they entered, looking for anything showing if anyone was ahead of them. Or, anything dangerous.

"It'd probably be a pain if they always show up." Gray agreed, surveying the room, hands tucked in his pockets as his Pricklemane clambered back up onto his shoulder.

He was a bit concerned when there didn't seem to be anyone else around, especially considering how many people had mentioned exploring the place. "Yeah, I wonder if they found anything." He kicked at a bit of the rubble. "Feel like going through one of those?" He asked, gesturing towards one of the three doors leading to different rooms. This room seemed deserted, and he wasn't opposed to exploring the whole place.

It’s obvious from the first glance at the foyer that this place used to be something large and grand. Glass cases are placed by the doorway, and dual alicorn statues stand at attention along the walls, guarding twin staircases that lead to an open upper level. Sadly, now the mansion is simply just big. Three of the four glass cases have been shattered or are missing entirely; only the fourth still stands, holding its treasure of what looks to be ancient golden pottery. The floors are covered with debris, the statues coated with dust, and in one corner of the room several dinner plates lay cracked and forgotten. There are three doors here: two are on the upper floor at opposite ends of the hall, one on the right and one on the left; the third door is on the lower floor. Be careful - there are Nightmares here, and they won’t hesitate to knock you down a flight of stairs.

Ziva walked in, immediately using her empty hand to pull out a small flashlight, ingrained actions from crime scenes. Watching as Fluffy landed on one of the alicorn statues, she poked around the still full glass case. Why leave those here? Her brain was spinning, already putting together hypotheses about the place.

"Why not? Have a preference?" She said, looking at the doors herself. She kept her eye on Abby, who was poking around on the staircase, probably trying to flush out any Nightmares that hadn't shown up yet.

Ziva seemed as if she'd done this before, her actions seeming practiced as she investigated one of the glass cases. Gray didn't want to bother, since it seemed like whatever had happened here had happened a long time ago and there wasn't much left of interest.

"How about that one?" Gray suggested, pointing to the closest door to them, the one leading down to the lower floors. "We could start from the bottom and work our way up. You up for exploring the whole place?"

Ziva turned to shine the flashlight on the door Gray was pointing at. It seemed just like the others. And, maybe going from the bottom up was a good idea.

"Sounds like a worthwhile plan to me." She said, walking over to stand near the door, Fluffy flying and landing on her shoulder. "I do wonder what happened here."
