What's this, what's this?
Characters: Anyone who wanted to go explore the mansion
Content: Exploration!!
Location: The abandoned mansion
Time of Day: Whenever
Warnings: None
There have been rumors of it being haunted. There have been suggestions that what's inside might not be what people remember. Which is correct?
No one can say for sure, and the mansion certainly isn't about talk. The only answer to questions is waiting inside.
So come, step in through the crack in the wall. Explore the forest and what lies beyond. The answers have to be there somewhere after all.]

Although there was other reasons why to step inside. After all it was the only place no one else had been able to go to so far, in there were any place left that might have some clues what everyone was doing in these worlds, it was likely here.
... Or any sort of story progression, for that matter.

Jack had watched Emizel approach the wall and grinned to himself. While it was true he was perfectly fine going on his own, it'd be a lot more fun to explore this supposedly haunted mansion with others. Jack flew over to the wall and dropped out of the sky next to Emizel.
"You're not going by yourself are you?"

Hopefully this wasn't where the next giant Dream Eater was going to show. Last thing Emizel wanted was another explosion.

Though Xion's experiences with the mansion in the past hadn't been pleasant, that wasn't enough to override any curiosity regarding its sudden appearance. Considering she was one of the few people there who had been to Twilight Town before, too, it seemed like a good idea to go in case some of the others needed help. While it wasn't easy to get lost there, prior knowledge always helped, and she could provide that.
When she got there, Jack and Emizel looked ready to go in. Barkley hurried over to greet their Spirits, while Manda stayed in her arms. Pooh and Axel had been dismissed, ready to be summoned if she needed them to trade with one of the others. "Is it okay if I come, too?"
no subject
Jack heard Barkley and turned to see Xion coming. He broke into a grin because if he was going to get another person in this little adventure team then certainly Xion would be a good addition. "Sure. Might be a little tougher than that snowball fight we had, but you can handle it, right?"

The barking had managed to ping him too, and Moxie joined in. Times like this Emizel was glad he had one dream eater that was relatively quiet.
As far as a response, he just gave a simple nod. Jack already invited her anyway so there was little else he could say. The more the merrier in this case.

Having properly alerted everyone to his presence, Barkley quieted and camled down a bit. Everyone had been properly greeted, so now it was time to get down to business. Were Moxie and the others ready? Because Barkley totally was.

He tossed Xion a reassuring grin. The other group member might have been grumpy but at least Xion seemed confident about their chances in this. "Sure we can."
Now that the party seemed assembled (more or less) Jack swung his staff onto his shoulder and started off into the forest. True, he could have just FLOWN to the mansion through the woods but where would be the fun in leaving everyone behind? Still Jack's footsteps were light and at times he seemed to sort of just glide over the grass instead of actually walking. Snowball kept watch overhead, fluttering around the group. Jack was ready for an adventure.

"Then let's go," Emizel stepped forward, Moxie may have hesitated for a moment but he did eventually follow suit. That only left Val who, at the moment, had been lazying up in a tree the whole time. It got tiresome flapping in one place for so long. But once he started to see that some of them were starting to move he assumed it was time to do the same... More or less. In this case, staying with the group meant hitching a ride on Emizel's hood.
What? It's the same thing.

Xion smiled back at Jack and then hurried to follow him and Emizel. "We should be able to just go straight through the woods to the mansion gate."
She summoned her keyblade, though. Heartless had sometimes liked to hide in the woods; Nightmares probably weren't much different. This meant she had to put Manda down, but the Toximander didn't seem to mind joining Barley on the ground. It would be easier to help her person this way, after all. What was Val thinking, just lazing around like that?

Jack strolled straight up to the front door. It certainly seemed empty enough and after a moment Jack just pushed open the door, keeping his staff lowered...just in case.

Emizel was a little bit nervous about rushing inside though. After all if the mansion had a reputation of being haunted, there had to be something bad about it, something that could easily catch them from the start. It's just too bad that cautious mindset didn't seem to have an effect on everyone.
"-!" Emizel spotted his bat go right over his head and nonchalantly aimed towards one of the cases. It looked like it was holding something! Was it shiny? Was it treasure? "-Val!"
Yup, totally stopping him from touching anything. Everyone knew easiest traps were always those.
no subject
So far, nothing seemed too different from other time she'd been there. Unlike Emizel, she wasn't worried about traps as much as Nightmares, but it was good to be cautious. While he stopped Val from escaping, she carefully moved closer to the front of the group. "It doesn't look any different than I remember, but we should still be careful. Do we want to start down here and move upstairs?"
no subject
Still, he didn't have quite the same apprehension as Emizel and Xion and started forward, eyes wandering around and crossing over to the nearest of the glass cases to examine it. He wondered why this vase had been left behind. Maybe it was worthless or something. Snowball fluttered overhead but unlike Val or Jack she didn't seem very interested.
"Working our way up makes sense I guess." They might as well explore this ground floor first."
no subject
Checking the bottom floor might've been a better plan anyway. It's closer and it might've been much easier to navigate, what with only one other room so far. Considering he didn't know if they should be looking for anything in particular, it didn't hurt just to take things easy.
Trying to keep things moving here, hope that's okay?
Maybe that was why she was a little more businesslike and didn't seem to want to stop and look at things the way the others were. Once the others had cast their votes, so to speak, she went to open the door that wasn't blocked. "Okay. So we'll start back here."
The door didn't give her too much trouble. Once it was open, she stuck her head in the room.

He'd seen abandoned houses before and he couldn't think of many that looked like a battle had taken place inside. If he didn't know better he'd attribute most of the broken pieces to that. Jack stepped carefully into the room, careful not to step on any broken glass or china with his bare feet. Spirit or not he could still feel pain.
Jack's eyes drifted over to the table and he noticed the drawing. "What's that?" He jumped over to the table and landed on top of it. Sure it was probably rude to stand on furniture, but it's not like anyone was going to be using the table any time soon. "Any idea what this means?" Jack brushed his fingers over it with a frown. The symbol was foreign to him.

And yes, this place really had seen better days. It must have. Broken glass and china was kind of a pain even with shoes, although it didn't stop Emizel from nudging one of them with his foot anyway.
"... Huh?" his attention moved over to Jack once he heard him find something. Had to practically skip over broken pieces just to see the table too though. And as predicted, he couldn't understand what it was supposed to mean either; although he did spot the crayons. Was that what it was used to draw it?
Welp, Xion was the only expert they had about all this. Maybe she knew what was going on.
no subject
Whatever the case, there was no way of knowing at the moment. Maybe she could talk to the others about it later. For the moment, she was very glad of her boots; the soles were so thick that the broken glass didn't bother her as she walked over to where Jack and Emizel stood looking at the symbol.
Her brow furrowed when she saw it. The set of three circles, two filled in with drawings and the third empty, was something she'd seen when looking for Namine in the real Twilight Town, but... "I thought this was on the table in the library upstairs." First she gestured towards the drawing of a heart separated into four pieces by jagged lines that filled one circle. "This is the symbol of the Heartless." Next was what looked like a cross set on what looked like an inverted top half of a heart drawn in the second circle. "This is the Nobodies' symbol. I don't know what goes in the last circle."
Maybe it was meant to be empty.

Jack straightened up. It appeared that he was resting on his heels, but that would have been nearly impossible to balance on the table. Jack made it work somehow, his bare toes curling ever so slightly as he listened to Xion explain two of the symbols. "Never heard of Heartless or Nobodies before. Hmm...but if it's a symbol...don't some of the Dream Eaters and Nightmares have a symbol on them? Do you think that might be the third one?"
He leaned forward and placed a hand on the table. Immediately frost began to form along the wood and Jack shaped it into the appropriate symbol.

Heartless and Nobodies were familiar territory, though.."When a person succumbs to the darkness in their heart, that darkness creates a Heartless that consumes that heart. A Nobody is the shell left behind after a Heartless is formed; if they had a strong heart in life, they'll still look human.
"I haven't seen any here yet, though." She continued. "Maybe they can't come here. Since this is the realm of sleep, maybe the Nightmare symbol would work..."
It was a guess, and Emizel had a point. The two symbols were slightly different. Xion could be patient for another attempt or two more, but with not much to go on for what symbol they needed, after they ran through ideas, it was better to move on. After she took a better look at the frost Jack was making.
