What's this, what's this?

There have been rumors of it being haunted. There have been suggestions that what's inside might not be what people remember. Which is correct?

No one can say for sure, and the mansion certainly isn't about talk. The only answer to questions is waiting inside.

So come, step in through the crack in the wall. Explore the forest and what lies beyond. The answers have to be there somewhere after all.]

The dishes glow gold and the chime sounds again, followed this time by a distinct rumbling coming from the library upstairs. Something in the mansion has shifted.

The rumbling is swiftly followed by a loud buzzing growing louder, and then the crunching, crashing sounds of architecture that is likely now much worse for the wear. The buzzing sound fades quickly afterwards, as though whatever was making it had moved away.

"Okay, what did we break?" York headed right back up the stairs. That hadn't sounded good. He paused at the door to the library because there was no way he was going into whatever it was without backup, but clearly, this had not gone to plan.

On the upside, nothing was attacking them yet.

Startled by both the rumble (Roxas's memories didn't include a rumble for revealing the path to the computer roomm...) and the buzzing, Sora had his Keyblade in hand and the beginnings of a spell forming before he realized they were under no immediate threat. He settled down, but didn't dismiss his Keyblade as he followed York back up the stairs.

At this juncture, Sora was torn. He knew that buzzing was Queen Buzzerfly. He also knew that anyone hanging around town would likely be capable of fighting the Nightmare, especially if any of them had taken care to read his Dream Eater guide. It didn't stop him from wanting to go and help but there was still the issue of the obvious noise from the library. "We didn't break anything. But we might have let something loose. Sounded like it was heading into town..."

It wouldn't be the first time he'd let a powerful enemy loose by finding or solving something. He wondered if maybe finding that ID card from Ziva's world had somehow triggered the appearance of the Hockomonkey, but there'd been too much time between finding the card and the appearance of the boss.

Celestia winced, casting a sheepish look towards the door that led outside. "I think we may owe several people an apology after this."

Still, she knew at least some of the people outside were highly capable warriors, and she could trust them to handle the creature.

"We had best not return before we accomplish all we can here, then. We owe them our best efforts."

"Yeah, let's check out the damage." York pushed the door open and looked into the library before heading in; the last thing he wanted to do was walk into dangerous wreckage.

The results of whatever caused the crunching sound are now fairly obvious: there's a large, jagged hole torn through the outer wall, letting light from the setting sun stream inside the library.

What might be a little more interesting, though not necessarily less dangerous, is that the table with the symbol on it, along with the entire floor of the room, has disappeared entirely. In its case, a deep blue staircase leads down into what looks to be an underground room and, beyond that, what looks like a hallway.

Well that was... interesting. The only explanation, at least that Sora could see, but that the Buzzerfly might actually have been stuck under the floor. Solving the puzzle removed the floor and left the bug out.

He agreed with Celestia's sentiment as he headed down the stairs, but there was another comment that needed making too, "I think we're lucky the book wasn't the last thing we returned..."

"If it had been, we would have fought the creature or creatures ourselves," Celestia said as she spread her wings. A few quick flaps brought her down the stairs. Not that she couldn't handle them, but this was was simply easier. "And it might have been informative to see if the symbol completed itself when we did so. But we should not assume we're out of the woods yet."

"If it came from the basement there might be something more down there," York said. He headed into the room, testing the top stair before standing on it. "We should probably go see what it is; maybe that'll make up a little for whatever got loosed on the town."

"There's a computer room and a hallway down here." Sora was halfway sharing what he knew and halfway thinking out loud. He caught himself before mentioning the pods and the one room with a single pod in it. Now that he actually thought of it, there had only been a need for three pods (for himself plus Donald and Goofy) yet there had been more. Had they been used for something else before?

Maybe it was better not to think of it. Especially not if it was going to be distracting. They had encountered some Nightmares already and it was likely they would encounter more.

"I'm sorry -- could you explain that, please?" asked the pony as she fell into step with the others again.

"What, about the computer room?" Come to think of it, did Luna know about computers from the start? Without hands, they definitely wouldn't have ones like people had at home, at least. "A computer's a machine you can use to store and manipulate information. And a lot of other stuff; you can put games on it or run equipment, but the basic function is information." York had his gun out this time; if there were more nightmares, he'd be ready.

"Someone was using this mansion as a base not long ago. At least, in the waking world. I don't know what the computer will on it now. Hopefully it'll have the same password, though." Keyword being 'hopefully' and he actually wasn't expecting to be that lucky.

As far as possible threats, he was on guard as well. In fact, he hadn't dismissed his Keyblade from the earlier scare when they'd finished the puzzle.

It was more of a technology-level thing than a reliance on hands... "So the communicator is a form of computer, is that correct?" Given that basic analogy, Celestia could go from there.

"Yeah, it's a pretty common sort of thing where I'm from," York said. "Computers used to be pretty big, but they've figured out how to make the tech smaller over the years." He glanced at Sora. Well, that was good to know. Maybe the computer would have some answers. "You can get us in if the password's the same, then?"

"If it's the same, yeah. I don't know what we'll do if it isn't." He wouldn't put it past whatever power was responsible to throw another puzzle at them. This was also assuming it wasn't smashed.

On the other hand, if it was smashed that would imply that they were in the dream of the digital town, not the real town. That was actually a mildly disturbing thought. And they never had solved the mystery of the photos...

"What does this password control? A door or passageway, or some more esoteric effect?"

Getting through a closed door, no matter how mundanely locked, was no challenge, after all. It must be more complicated.

What kind of hints was this supposed to be giving anyway? Moving stuff around was fine, but it was a whole new level of cryptic for whatever was running this show. They did what they were supposed to do, but all that did was release an enemy on the town. "Think we'll get a clearer hint once we finish up here? So far this doesn't make sense."

"It controls who can get to the information on the computer. If you know the password, you can get in." Of course, Sora had a lot of help not only finding that password but even finding out that he should be looking for the computer in the first place.

The fact that opening the way to the computer room had also released a Nightmare boss wasn't really sitting well with Sora, but it was likely the battle would be over by the time they got there. "I guess we'll find something. I just don't know how much it'll tell us."

Sora was going to be so unamused if they found Nightmares in the computer room. Given the possibility (they did tend to show up in places that didn't have enemies in the waking worlds), he was on guard as they entered the room.

The room looks much like Sora would remember it: multiple screens on dark metal walls with little other ornamentation. In the corner stands a computer terminal with multiple monitors. Both the screens on the wall and the monitors are dark.

"This is the computer, then?" Celestia said, looking about as she stepped into the room. "I hope one of you knows how to turn it on."

York headed over to look at the keyboard. "I don't even recognize the language. Sora?"

Sora looked over the keyboard. He hadn't really expected language to be a problem. They were all speaking the same language, after all, and everyone seemed to understand the texts that came through on the communicators.

Then again, they were in a dream world with communicators supplied by inhabitants of said dream world. Maybe the devices translated all the texts. Sighing and putting aside that train of thought, Sora tried the password he knew for the computer: sea-salt ice cream.

"If this doesn't work, we might have to find the password elsewhere..."

"I admit I'm out of my depth with this device," Celestia said as she looked curiously over Sora's shoulder, "but would a Metaphorical Unlocking spell perhaps be of assistance?"

It still seemed like it needed to be turned on, but what did she know?

Nothing happens - the screen doesn't light up, the password doesn't show up, nothing. This is because the computer still isn't on.

Further investigation will reveal that the computer has no power supply or switch, leaving no means of turning it on. It may as well be a sculpture for all the good it will do.
