Of Magic Swords and Kingslayers [Active/Open]

Who: Soma Cruz and Jaime Lannister, plus anyone else who happens to wander in
What: On hearing the plight of the newbie, Soma decides to lend him a sword. This may not have been such a good idea...
Where: Traverse Town - Hotel Lobby
When: Mid-morningish?
Warnings: ...Iiiii'll just leave this blank for now, there's no telling where this may go.

Chances were good that, if Soma had any idea about the history behind the sword he was about to hand over to this stranger knight, he'd never have even hinted that he had the thing, much less what it was. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on several factors not the least of which being that he, himself, probably represented a much greater risk) he didn't, so he saw no problem in lending it to this one-handed man who very clearly was used to having a weapon close to hand.

If he had any prescience about the man's history or character, he might have had even graver misgivings about the wisdom of handing over Caladbolg the Hill Cleaver, which was said to be the source of the legend of Excalibur.

All he knew was, he was handing over his only close-combat melee weapon to a stranger, and he would very much like it back when Jaime was done with it.

Fortunately, it was a quiet day (or was it night? It's so very difficult to keep track of time in a place where the sky never changes...) and he was fully recovered from his misadventures aboard the Mother of Invention. The scabbard-clad blade lay across his knees, its faint red aura barely visible in the room's light. He'd checked the fittings the night before, oiled the blade (it never seemed to need cleaning, as if it drank the blood it shed) and generally made sure it was presentable. It wasn't ornately decorated, or even all that much to look at if you discounted the aura; it was a fighting sword, plain and pure, a weapon made for use, not show. And it was balanced for one-handed use; that had figured prominently in his decision to offer it.
