Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting

Characters: All those who signed up for Struggle
Content: Struggle!
Location: Twilight Town, Sandlot
Time of Day: Morning
Warnings: It's a Struggle, so there's going to be at least some combat
Notes: The rules of Struggle are simple: Each player has 100 colored orbs attached to their gear (usually a vest and helmet). Knock off and gather your opponent's orbs while keeping your own. The person with the most orbs at the end of the time limit wins the round. Special powers (magic and such) are not allowed - the vanilla humans need a chance to win too. Have fun!

It's a bright sunny morning in Twilight Town - or would be if it had mornings to speak of - but that's not what has the town all abuzz. No, that would be the fact that today marks the start of the Struggle tournament. All are, of course, welcome to come, so the question is really a simple one: who out there is ready to Struggle?

Aqua would readily agree that it could have been worse. But that didn't really mean she particularly wanted to fight Ven. Oh, she'd still give it her all, and likely no surprise. It just wasn't what she'd really wanted to see for the first fight in something like this.

"Ready when you are," she answered with a nod. Neither of them really knew what to expect in this (or so Aqua would guess), but there was nothing for it but to simply try. After all, standing around second-guessing herself wasn't going to be interesting for anyone. There was, after all, a fight to win.

He actually preferred that it was Aqua. An entirely new experience, at least he was experiencing it with someone he knew. Although this padding felt rather needless, slightly smothering and tight, and he felt just slightly off-balance not having his pauldron on, it wasn't anything distracting enough to take away from the fight. One last tug on it to make sure it was secure, and he settled into his fighting stance, bat held in his normal backwards-grip.

He didn't wait long, though - barely half a second later, he'd dodged quickly to the left, then launched himself at her, bringing the bat up to attack.

As awkward as the padding might have been, Aqua was of the opinion that if the people in charge said it was necessary, she'd take them at their word. Not that the two of them hadn't had training fights with much less protection and weapons that were significantly less padded as well, but if this was what was required to play, then so be it. It did make the whole thing a little ridiculous, but it wasn't really Aqua's place to argue what was necessary for anything.

Fortunately, she was used to Ven's combat style. Even the way he launched himself at her was more than familiar, and almost without a second thought, she raised her own bat to block the incoming attack.
