Ever since the new world open up one thing Emizel had been curious about was if there was Nightmares here too. And if so what were they like, or were they any different? Would they be harder or just the same? It seemed like an good place to check out at least now with Traverse Town feeling mostly cleaned of it's own Nightmares, unless another big one shows up.
But there was a few other reasons why too, the biggest one being the thing soaring high above him right now. Emizel was a little reluctant about getting a second Spirit on his side after the difficulty Moxie was at first, but so far the Komory Bat had been doing just fine. Question was now, how well could it fight? It hadn't actually been in any battles yet.
Alright it was being way too quiet. Eventually Emizel had an idea and called the bat to fly down.
"Move on ahead, just come right back if you find anything," the Spirit squeaked and rose high to the north, Emizel watched a moment and smirked.
"Sure is odd having one of those with us now," he turned his head to Moxie and see what he had to say. Instead the demon's eyes widened. The ground, what was going with the ground?
"Moxie!" Emizel pulled on his Meow Wow just as something emerged from the pavement to bite it. A new kind of Nightmare? Well, he was right about one thing then. Although by now Moxie was too freaked out to do anything about it. Before it could strike again Emizel froze it with ice and Moxie took cover behind him.
"There better not be more..." a staff appeared in Emizel's hand while he briefly checked the floor for any more weird spots, keeping an eye also on the one that was frozen too. Didn't stay frozen for long though. Once some ice broke off--oh man it's twitching, it was twitching!
It unceremoniously died in a fire and Emizel was about to run. "... Val!" there was an awkward pause, kind of doubting the bat heard him anyway, "come bac--!"
More new Nightmares appeared, at least they weren't hiding in the ground now. Looked more like sheep this time actually. Maybe would have helped if he wasn't immediately flashed by something odd.
Moxie saw what the sheep did and charged into it to push it away. Emizel on the other hand looked dazed, even after Moxie barked at him. It kept trying to fend off the rest of the sheep by itself right until the time it heard Emizel collapse. That was when Moxie started to panicked.
Even after it nudged and barked into the demon's ear he still wouldn't wake up. And without him there the Meow Wow was feeling helpless now too. It was one of him and three of them after all, how was this supposed to be a fair fight?
He began whimpering.
